say hello to tragedy (2009/CENTURY MEDIA)
METALCORE. CALIBAN is one of the few European metalcore bands who have managed to build up an international following, touring America as well as hitting all of the major metal festivals, and touring Japan. CALIBAN is tracing your tracks again. "say hello to tragedy" unites thrashing viciousness, blasting speed and crushing breaks with emotive melodies and choruses.
shadow hearts (2003/LIFEFORCE)
METALCORE. CALIBAN’s 3rd full-length album is a cornerstone for the European metalcore scene. It combines pure heaviness with catchy melodies supported by a highly powerful production.
the awakening (2007/CENTURY MEDIA)
METALCORE. CALIBAN are the purveyors of the German metal core scene. They have honed and crafted their trademark sound into a well oiled machine they are today. This is new album has huge riffs, big drums and lethal vocals that will please fans of KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, UNEARTH and ATREYU.
the opposite from within (2004/ABACUS)
METALCORE. CALIBAN deliver crushing breakdowns, tightly delivered drums, double-bass mosh attacks and hardcore bass lines, but always with a keen sense of melody, and played with utter conviction throughout this twelve song outing.
outside are the vultures (2007/EULOGY)
METALCORE. With 2 selfreleased MCD's and 2 full-lengths releases, CALICO SYSTEM have built a ravenous fanbase for their brand of chaotic, melody laced, metalcore. Once again the CALICO SYSTEM have found themselves changing up their sound in between albums. The band seemed to bring a more varied amount of influences to the table. While some of the songs show the bands metal roots, there is an apparent hardcore influence that wasn’t on their earlier material, while the band’s original contemporary screamo and post-hardcore roots are almost non-apparent on “vultures”. On the surface it’s a generic metalcore album, but if you dig into it, there’s enough little things and efficient musicianship that “outside are the vultures” is easily one of the better albums released this year for the genre.
the duplicated memory (2003/EULOGY)
METALCORE. CALICO SYSTEM formed in the St.Louis area in the 1997 as a group of friends who wanted to play music that which adhered to no rules. This being held true to the current day, the energetic quartet take a variety of different elements from metal and hardcore and seamlessly fuse them with emo, punk and various other genres, creating a sound that deftly defies the laws of musical implementation. Then, combing this with: rhythmically complex music, an amazing and entertaining live show, hard work, determination, and the maintaining of good attitudes towards everyone they come in contact with, one can see the basis for what CALICO SYSTEM is all about.

s/t (2013/DON GIOVANNI)
GARAGE-PUNK. In less than a year, Amherst trio CALIFORNIA X have emerged from basements and punk practice spaces of Massachusetts as one of the tightest new garage-punk bands in the Northeast, teetering between various pockets of the punk spectrum - drawing influence from the worlds of noisy '80s Western rock, fuzzy '90s garage-pop, and classic post-hardcore SST sounds. From start to finish, the record’s 8 hook-heavy tracks of melodic guitar punk could all be singles.
CALL ME LIGHTNING
soft skeletones (2007/FORGE AGAIN/FRENCH KISS)
POST-PUNK. Following up their 2004 debut release on Revelation Records, Milwaukee's CALL ME LIGHTNING entered the studio with Steve Albini in 2006 to try to harness their frenetic post-punk sound that has been influenced by THE TALKING HEADS' quirky pop and THE JESUS LIZARDS rambunctious absurdism. Throw in some lyric styling reminicent of THE MINUTEMEN and you have a powerful combination. "Soft skeletons is an 11 song blast of youthful energy, wicked riffery and unapologetic fun. Available on colored vinyl.

CALL ME LIGHTNING
The trouble we're in (2005/REVELATION)
POST-ROCK. "The trouble we're in", the debut full-length from Milwaukee's CALL ME LIGHTNING blends spastic guitars with driving no-wave rhythyms. CALL ME LIGHTNING's sound brings together the more frantic moments of THE TALKING HEADS' early days with the freak-out riffs and wild vocal style of THE JESUS LIZARD. Throw in some lyric styling reminiscent of THE MINUTEMEN and you have a powerful combination. The three members of CALL ME LIGHTNING have been friends for nearly ten years. Having cut their teeth in the Milwaukee punk/hardcore scene (ex-members of HERO OF 100 FIGHTS, AKARSO, MANAGRA, and HAYMARKET RIOT), the friends decided it was time to start something together. "The trouble we're in" is thematically rooted in fantasy, revenge and paranoia. CALL ME LIGHTNING have channeled alcoholic dementia into ten songs that are intense, yet refreshing. The Trouble We're In manages to be dark without being brooding. Hell, it's even fun.
CALL THE POLICE
1984 in 2003 (2004/FERAL WARD)
HARDCORE-PUNK. Here we have a post-humous realease by this Portland hardcore. Female fronted hardcore-punk with a lot of cool melodies, similar to BURNING KITCHEN, mixed with some more UK sounding punk influences like THE VARUKERS, or even VICE SQUAD. Yet another band with members of TRAGEDY and also some from RUN FOR YOUR FUCKING LIFE.
CALL TO PRESERVE
from isolation (2008/FACEDOWN)
SXE-HARDCORE. Energetically clearing hurdles that would be the demise of most bands, CALL TO PRESERVE has persisted, spending years developing their signature sound. They comfortably join together heavy BURIED ALIVE-type moments, vintage NYC-hardcore style bounce and melody-infused flavor in the vein of GIVE UP THE GHOST. The result is an assault of burly hardcore anthems about faith, perseverance, friendship, loyalty and the straight-edge lifestyle to which they strictly adhere.
CALL TO PRESERVE
life of defiance (2010/FACEDOWN)
SXE-HARDCORE. CALL TO PRESERVE's 3rd album, "life of defiance", was recorded at Warrior Sound Studios. Like the straight forward hardcore they have become known for, this is 11 tracks of hard-hitting, in-your-face, anthemic music and lyrics from Florida's finest. CALL TO PRESERVE is prepared to release the strongest album of their career so far with "life of defiance."
