EXODUS
Tempo of the damned (2008/BACK ON BLACK)
EXODUS, the legitimate founders of Bay Area Thrash Metal, erupted with their album "Tempo of the damned". Twelve years after their last studio record, "Force of habit", the five pioneers in metal presented "Tempo of the damned", a worthy comeback with crushing riff attacks, merciless drumming and distinctive vocal outbreaks. Strong and fresh, behold a real thrash hurricane that continued just as if the band has never left the stage, respectively the studio. "Tempo of the damned" was the comeback of the centaury & now it is available as a special reissue on red splatter vinyl.

EXPENDABLE YOUTH / CUT THE REINS
split (2010/EXPENDABLE YOUTH)
CRUST-HARDCORE. EXPENDABLE YOUTH's 6min. thrashy melodic crust dominates faces. The song is full of palm muted harmoninzing metallic guitar riffs, screeching vocals, and sum pounding fuckin drums that make up a sick style. On the other side of the split is a band from Ireland called CUT THE REINS. They add a dark melodic song with an upbeat tempo mixed with passionate yelled vocals that are refreshing. Overall they coul be compared to a more upbeat FROM ASHES RISE with REQUIEM sounding vocals.

EXPIRED YOUTH
where we stand (2006/THINK FAST)
SXE-HARDCORE. Paying homage to their peers and friends, the band has been compared to anything from the early AGNOSTIC FRONT lineup, to UNIFORM CHOICE, to that of early Chicago natives LIFE SENTENCE. EXPIRED YOUTH define all that is needed to pave the way and show that Chicago straight-edge is still alive and well. Singing songs about emotions, broken friendships, and the perils of everyday life, the debut "Where we stand" is a call to arms to not only everyone involved in the hardcore/punk scene, but to straightedge enthusiasts worldwide.

EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY
all of a sudden.. (2007/TEMPORARY RESIDENCE)
POST/INSTRUMENTAL-ROCK. Known for bringing an emotional heft and sense of hope to a usually placid genre, EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY have experienced the kind of meteoric rise in popularity that flies in the face of music industry convention. Their 6 songs are too long for radio play or commercial music videos; they avoid performing in LiveNation/Clear Channel venues; they didn't jump to a major label; and they don't sing. After scoring the film "friday night lights", they took 2 years to work on this record, which is a massive leap forward, showcasing a broader instrumental range and their most focused, efficient songwriting. If you dig in RADIOHEAD, SIGUR ROS, MOGWAI, GODSPEED YOU! BLACK EMPEROR and MONO.
EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY
how strange innocence (2005/TEMPORARY RESIDENCE)
POST/INSTRUMENTAL-ROCK. Containing the very 1st transmissions from EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY to the world, the songs on "how strange innocence" were freshly written, painstakingly rehearsed, and anxiously put to tape during a whirlwind two-day recording session in 2000. Beautifully remastered with gorgeous new artwork.
EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY
take care, take care, take care (2011/TEMPORARY RESIDENCE)
POST/INSTRUMENTAL-ROCK. On their 5th album, EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY take some of their greatest creative leaps yet, experimenting with layers of haunting, unplaceable sounds, euphoric vocals, classical guitar, body percussion, Japanese singing bowls and more. With solitary focus and collaborative vision, each instrument clearly exudes the spirit and inspiration of its player, squeezing more expression and lyricism out of guitars and drums than most singers could ever conjure with their voices. LP and CD includes an incredible quadruple gatefold cover (= a cube; where you could built a house), fold-out poster and postcard. Vinyl version includes a MP3 download card and etched d-side.
