food for thought (2009/DISCHORD)
EMOCORE. GRAY MATTER officially formed in the summer of 1983 but had been playing in bands since their early middle school days. The band's 1st album, "food for thought", was originally released on R&B Records in 1985 while the members were still in high school and continues to stand out as a classic teenage punk album. In the aftermath of DC’s "revolution summer" GRAY MATTER recorded the brilliant “take it back” MLP which was released on Dischord in 1986. Shortly thereafter the band went on one of their frequent hiatuses. Colored vinyl was re-cut and re-mastered in 2009 and includes a digital download card.

GREAT DECEIVER, THE
life is wasted (2007/DEATHWISH)
HARDCORE/METAL. THE GREAT DECEIVER are the vision of vocal legend Tomas Lindberg (AT THE GATES, DISFEAR etc.). THE GREAT DECEIVER have constantly evolved since their inception, progressing past the trends of the day, they have made a career of defying limiting classifications. With releases on labels as diverse as Trustkill and Peaceville they've solidified their reputation as a force to be reckoned with in both the metal and hardcore worlds. Appealing to both scenes lethally and equally as a new kind of aggressive aural amalgamation. "Life is wasted on the living" takes their trend killing approach to new heights. Combining the intensity of hardcore, the power of metal, and the hook-laden repetition of industrial into a new kind of musical apocalypse.
GREAT EXPLAINER, THE
the way things swell (2010/CHUNKSAAH)
PUNK/MELODYCORE. Smearing the lines between punk and hardcore, New Jersey's THE GREAT EXPLAINER use dual contrasting vocals, complex and aggressive guitar work, and a powerfully locked-in rhythm section all with an overlying sense of melody that brings to mind HOT WATER MUSIC, LATTERMAN and SMALL BROWN BIKE. Colored 10" includes MP3 download code.
to the ends of the earth (2012/D.I.Y.)
HARDCORE. GREAT REVERSALS from DEtroit drawing inspiration from bands like TRIAL, MODERN LIFE IS WAR, BANE and a bit of QUICKSAND, meld dense riffs, soaring melody, raw emotion and reflective lyrics with hopes of replicating the spirit of '90s hardcore. "to the ends of the earth" lyrically deals with the drummer's raising his deaf, autistic son, capturing his feelings of angst, grief, hope, and perseverance amidst adverse circumstances. These 4 songs are the best to date and you'll be impressed by the intensity and energy these songs are played.
s/t (2009/SILLY GIRL)
POP-PUNK. The GREATEST HITS were discovered and recorded by Steve of The Briefs. Needless to say these guys are carrying the tradition of those 2 bands with a bit more pop in the mix. Reminds of STATUES and TRANZMITORS. It's more pure pop than power-pop or pop-punk! Limited one-time pressimng of 500 copies.
spit & argue (2011/PROSTHETIC)
HARDCORE. Since forming in 2007, Southern California's THE GREENERY has morphed their sound to a point where they incorporate influences from THE BRONX, and even DISCHARGE. Vinyl version includes a MP3 download card.
over air (2009/KORA)
POST-ROCK/INSTRUMENTAL. The aptly named "over air" features a live radio performance by GREGOR SAMSA at Amsterdam's CPRO station, showing off the richness of their mirco-orchestra live set up in never before heard ways. It includes songs spanning 3 of the band's releases. In addition, this release includes 3 alternate mixes plus a 30min. film of the band performing live in Paris and one music video.
Rest (2008/THE KORA)
POST-ROCK/INSTRUMENTAL. In "Rest" GREGOR SAMSA expand on their affinity for minimal, classical instrumentation mixed with mangled and manipulated sound through integration of new instruments such as the celesta, clarinet, classical voice and vibraphone. These pieces demonstrate a shift in focus to harmony, restraint and the use of muted tones, while less interest is taken in the large dynamic shifts that once carried the weight of many of their compositions. Packed in an awesome digi-sleeve!
natural disaster (2011/CHUNKSAAH)
POP/EMO-PUNK. This 10" is GREGORY ATTONITO's 1st solo release after 22 years of recording and touring with his band THE BOUNCING SOULS. His solo effort is an exercise in simplicity. These 6 songs capture an intangible combination of spirits old and new - they're wistful, intimate and plaintive. Colored 10" includes a MP3 download card.
Sisters of the wyrd (2008/KREATION)
DOOM. Easily one of the most anticipated albums in the doom scene for years! Lots of hard work and time went into the creation of this doomicus epicus masterpiece. All female trio of heavy doom, the way it should be. The sound of this record is unlike any others out there today...easily some of the heaviest shit you've ever heard. It will appeal to fans of a large variety of heavy music, but to drop a few names: ASUNDER, COFFINS, CORRUPTED, 13, EVOKEN and anything slow and brutally heavy. Really well written songs, both lyrically, conceptionally and of course the riffs are sick. Remastered by Mell Dettmer (Sunn, Earth, Boris) to make it even that much better!
