KINGDOM
the rage that guides (2009/EULOGY)
SXE-HARDCORE. KINGDOM formed in 2006 with the intent of making pissed off and socially relevant vegan-straight-edge hardcore. In a scene where bands trade their ideals for merch sales and kids trade their rage for a pair of sneaks, KINGDOM strives to maintain the ideas and ethics that lay however buried at the foundation of this movement. This 10 song record contrasts feelings of hopelessness, suffering and despair with those of empowerment, hope and rage. Seething and spiteful, "the rage that guides" is a dose of broken glass for a spoon-fed scene.
KINGDOM
threads (2011/DEAD TRUTH)
HARDCORE. Forming in 2006, KINGDOM exploded into the over-saturated, watered-down cesspool of hardcore, fueled by an agenda of justice and compassion. Now 2011 sees KINGDOM resurface with easily their most focused material to date, "threads". KINGDOM is proof the vegan-straight-edge is still pissed on the East-Coast. Colored 7" includes a MP3 download card.
KINGDOM OF SORROW
behind the blackest tears (2010/RELAPSE)
METAL. Metal legends Jamey Jasta (HATEBREED) and Kirk Windstein (DOWN, CROWBAR) return with "behind the blackest tears", the 2nd album from their acclaimed super-group KINGDOM OF SORROW. "behind the blackest tears" pushes their songwriting talents even further. Colored vinyl features a gatefold cover and includes a MP3 download card.
KINGDOM OF SORROW
s/t (2008/RELAPSE)
METAL. Boasting a lineup that includes members of such infamous metal bands as HATEBREED, DOWN, CROWBAR, and more, the infamous KINGDOM OF SORROW has been unveiled. The brainchild of Jamey Jasta and riff-master Kirk Windstein, KINGDOM OF SORROW tears through an 11 track barrage of some of the most punishing, straight-up metal in years. KINGDOM OF SORROW is a nice combination of Jasta and Windstein's other bands. It has elements of harsh and fierce metalcore, but also a southern-metal and stoner groove. You'll hear slow to mid-tempo songs with a lot of melody and a lot of aggression along with metallic hardcore influenced, breakdown infused brutality.
KINGS OF LEON
Only by the night (2008/RCA)
INDIE-ROCK. With THE WHITE STRIPES facing an uncertain future, and THE STROKES fragmenting into underwhelming solo careers, KINGS OF LEON are the sole surivors of America's early 21st century heritage-rock boom. They return with the release of their highly anticipated 4th album "Only by the night". This new release is a bold and expansive sonic statement that looks set to solidify KINGS OF LEON's position as one of the most important international acts of 2008 and beyond. That’s music - that’s good music - it evolves. Like others before them, KINGS OF LEON have responded to the experience of touring with U2 by making an album that seems better calculated to appeal to Bono's fans than their own.
KINGSTON FALLS
armada on mercury (2008/FACEDOWN)
METALCORE/POP-ROCK. After years spent on the road delighting fans across the country with a smooth, palatable brand of rock, KINGSTON FALLS took some time off to write and record their debut album for Facedown Records. "armada on mercury" was produced by Joey Sturgis (The Devil Wears Prada) and is 12 tracks packed full of pop hooks, overlaid with heavy rhythms, up beat choruses and metal leads. Metal and pop-rock have collided head on and the result is "armada on mercury."
KINSKI
alpine static (2005/SUB POP)
POST-ROCK. "alpine static" is an immediate, visceral record. On it, KINSKI use riff, repetition, incremental layering, bursts of noise, sudden changes in pace and volume, all shot through with a sense of melody to provide new ways of seeing and feeling guitar-based rock. But, more importantly than all that, KINSKI manage to infuse experimental music with emotion and fun. What they offer and the source of their appeal is more a full-bore sensory thrill-ride than anything else. KINSKI wants to take you to faraway places and show you exciting things - and "alpine static" is the key.
KINSKI
cosy moments (2013/KILL ROCK STARS)
POST-ROCK. The album is filled with the glistening, graceful chords and heavy proto-punk rhythms that have become KINSKI's hallmarks over the last 14 years of playing music together. "cosy moments" is the result of Martin, the band's songwriter, spending the last few years figuring out where to go next musically. The result of his efforts are songs crafted on a solid framework, with each song reaching higher and higher through complex layers of crisp guitar arpeggios, pounding percussion and fleeting ethereal moments that are a far cry from Kinski's earlier fuzzed out psych-metal work. Vinyl includes a digital download card.
KINSKI
down below it's chaos (2007/SUB POP)
POST-ROCK. KINSKI is a four-piece rock band from Seattle. Their unique evocation of post-rock is deconstructionist and heady, but also emotive and visceral. "down below it's chaos" is KINSKI’s 3rd full-length for Sub Pop. The record is a kaleidoscopic mix of KINSKI’s expansive, over-driven power and intricate beauty. With majestically fuzzed-out guitar tones, spare and pounding rhythms, and swirling sonic textures, "down below it's chaos" sums up KINSKI’s past and propels them into the ozone. What’s left of it, that is. Vinyl is housed in a gatefold-sleeve.
KIRAI
s/t (2011/KONTON CRASHER)
CRUST-HARDCORE. Raw Japanese styled crasher crust from Sweden. These noize fiends may not be Japanese but the could definately pass for it. Raw and noizey as a bomb blast. Brings to mind GLOOM ect. and even a touch of TOTALTÄR. Not to be written off as the watered down clones around these days, it definately is true crasher crust! Members can be found in GIFTGASATTACK, DODSDÖMD, MARTYRDÖD etc.. Covers are printed on recycled material with soy based ink.
KISS IT GOODBYE
choke (1998/REVELATION)
HARDCORE. This is the final chapter for Seattle's insane, discordant, hardcore band KISS IT GOODBYE, who split up in 1998. Shortly before the breakup, they recorded a 7" for Sub Pop Records with new guitarist Demian Johnston. The record was never released and so subsequently the band decided to release it on Revelation. Those long sought after songs have been coupled with another unreleased track the band recorded later and their "target practice" 7". This 5 song (2 song 7") will offer some solace to fans still mourning the loss of KISS IT GOODBYE and nightmares to others who never witnessed the horror. Kiss 'em goodbye...
KISS IT GOODBYE
preacher/target practice (1998/REVELATION)
HARDCORE. If you don't know who KISS IT GOODBYE are they're former members of DEADGUY, RORSCHACH, NO ESCAPE and DIE 116. Ever since their demo tape was recorded in 1996 the buzz on these guys has continued to grow. They mix both brutal intensity and an unbelievable live show with great songs, lyrics and packaging.
KISS IT GOODBYE
she loves me, she loves me not (2012/REVELATION)
HARDCORE. After leaving the New Jersey band DEADGUY, vocalist Tim Singer and guitarist Keith Huckins moved on to form KISS IT GOODBAY with bassist Thom Rusnack and drummer Andrew Gormley. Huckins, Rusnack and Gormley were already familiar musically as they had all previously performed together in the New Jersey band RORSCHACH. "she loves me, she loves me not" is the band's debut. Colored vinyl version includes a digital download card.
KISS THE ANUS OF A BLACK CAT
the nebulous dreams (2008/CONSPIRACY)
DOOM/FOLK-ROCK. KISS THE ANUS OF A BLACK CAT has always been utterly fascinated with primitive savagery and heathen tactics. On this 3rd full-length endeavor, they explore and recast their horror-filled doom theme in the light of current debates on modernity and globalization. Minimalist instrumentation and hypnotic ultra dramatic vocals are wrapped in equal parts doom ridden heresy, the percussion is stripped down off hazy emotions and stretched into a pure vessel of magical strength, where a muted buzz deliberately enforces mental overload. A divine doom folk/rock cloud that shares apocalyptic interests with such visionaries as CURRENT 93, WOVEN HAND, RICHARD YOUNGS, COMUS and other uplifting pagan psych-folk. at my words.
KISS THE BOTTLE
s/t (2008/D.I.Y.)
POST-HARDCORE. KISS THE BOTTLE, from Bordeaux/France, stands at the crossroad of JAWBREAKER influences and what some people used to call "french emo" in the '90s. The idea behind the band is to try to avoid the modern pathos of the d.i.y. scene, and the desire to throw a political stance far from the clichés, mixed with the simple pleasure of playing music with your best friends when you're in your mid/late '30s. Former members of PEU ETRE, ALCATRAZ, AMANDA WOODWARD, THE FLYING WORKERS, and FINGERPRINT. Comes in nice designed silkscreen covers.
