MULETRAIN
demolition preaching (2004/BEAT GENERATION)
PUNK-ROCK. After AEROBITCH came to an end - 3 of their members decided to recruit a new drummer and start a new musical experience. “demolition preaching” is their debut in full glory, 13 screams that defy good manners and behaviors. A manifesto of conspiration visions that transform rage unto raw, noisy nerve. Direct saturation to the brain in an insane collection of watts that shakes and leaves you breathless in a bare half an hour. Oafish punk for those who enjoy the light music of ANTISEEN, MOTÖRHEAD, POISON IDEA or BLACK FLAG.
MULETRAIN
the ansar (2008/BEAT GENERATION)
PUNK-ROCK. In 2007 MULETRAIN locked themselves in their practice space with their instruments and recording gear. Songs recorded there will be released as 3 separate singles. This, "the ansar" 7", is one of them. Side A has 2 new original and unreleased tracks right in line with their super raw and energetic last full-length. In addition, side-b has 2 covers, a surprisingly rocking and rough "distant smile" from ULTRAVOX and "ain't no feeble bastard" from DISCHARGE which is transformed into a brutal castilian version. All of that wrapped up in luxurious artwork (by Screaming Mario Loco again) with a screen printed cover they're going to talk about.
MULETRAIN
the worst is yet to come (2006/BEAT GENERATION)
PUNK-ROCK. "the worst is yet to come" is the result. A manual of destruction and survival with a premise as useful as it is simple: always hit where it hurts most. Punk, hardcore and rock 'n' roll -13 songs in 23min.. Powerful, angry, abrasive, no adjectives are useful. Don’t waste your time, put the volume at eleven and let your neck crunch out the rhythms of MULETRAIN. "the worst is yet to come" and you still don’t know it.
MÜLLTÜTE
2nd (2012/HEART FIRST)
PUNK-ROCK. Gruff and stripped down old-school punk from Germany, combining what we love about early '80s magic with that undefinable quality that makes deutsch-punk stand as its own subgenre. The Berlin citizens managed to record another 6 tracks of dirty punk. The raw production is giving the guitars exactly right ratio of crunch to clarity, and the drums are dominated by the hi-hat, like so many killer lo-fi recordings from the golden years.
MULTIPLE TRUTHS
no one wins (2013/HALO OF LIES)
HARDCORE. MULTIPLE TRUTHS is a new band from Chicago who formed in 2011. Halo Of Flies compares the band to BALLAST meets FROM ASHES RISE meets GORILLA BISCUITS, which also works as a comparison. They play a style of hardcore that seamlessly melds the melodic stylings with the blackened/metallic sounds. On paper, you'd think these combinations of sounds wouldn't work, but MULTIPLE TRUTHS pull this sound off flawlessly. Features former and current members of CALL ME LIGHTNING, HERDS, Manipulation, Condenada, Zebras, Permanent Ruin, Radar Eyes, Shopping, Canadian Rifle, La Mantra, and Hero of a Hundred Fights.
MUMAKIL
behold the failure (2009/RELAPSE)
GRINDCORE. Swiss power-grinders MUMAKIL (ex-KNUT and NOSTROMO) lay down the anti-law with their blitzkrieg debut "behold the failure". A truly vicious attack, "behold the failure" detonates 27 lightning-fast firebombs of grinding metal with all the subtlety and remorse of a suicide bomber. "behold the failure" fuses the political angst and frustration of hardcore heyday with some of the most over the top, punishing grind this side of the 21st century.
MUNDHONEY
Under a billion suns (2006/SUB POP)
Mudhoney is a four-piece rock group from the old, weird Seattle. For 18 years they have plugged into wall sockets all over the world, proving to be one of the most consistently electrifying acts to survive the grunge implosion, whatever that was. The wolfish howls of singer Mark Arm, soulful splatterings of guitarist Steve Turner and frenzied fills of drummer Dan Peters have produced 9 albums to date, most of which are considered neo-garage classics. In addition, they have had two bassists over the years, Matt Lukin, who retired in 1999, later replaced by the inimitable Australian Guy Maddison. Under a Billion Suns is the band’s new long-player and it’s performed with the same amplified urgency of their previous work. While history has shown musicians to be a largely unreliable lot, Mudhoney has never swayed in its vision of making really loud rock music and this album is no exception. Produced with the help of three notable knobsters (Phil Ek, Johnny Sangster, Tucker Martine) and boasting a blaring horn section, Under a Billion Suns exposes a more snidely political-fueled side to our shaggy heroes, but one revealed through the invariables of the Mudhoney recipe: thick, soggy punk riffs and underrated guitar dynamics, psychedelic tangents and snot-nosed finger-pointing. It is loud, it is fierce, and it is here for our world right now. Lucky for us, so is Mudhoney.
