PROMISE RING
Wood/water (2002/EPITAPH)
INDIE-ROCK. The kings of indie-rock let loose a career-defining work that shuns category and mines the vein of classic song craft with genuine originality and flair. Produced by Stephen Street (The Smiths, Blur, The Cranberries), this is an album overflowing with rich arrangements and heart-felt vocal performances.
PROMISE, THE
My true love (2001/DEATHWISH)
HARDCORE. Just when you thought the days of straight-edge devotion were long over, THE PROMISE have risen to the call! Featuring a stellar line up tested mercenaries from SANTE SANGRE, ANOTHER VICTIM, TURMOIL, ONE KING DOWN, EARTH CRISIS, STARKWEATHER and CONVICTION - these warlords wrap their bloody knuckles around the flag of Syracuse rooted straight-edge. To take up the fight on the same ground where their brethren, EARTH CRISIS and ANOTHER VICTIM, once proudly stood tall.
PROPAGANDHI
failed state (2012/EPITAPH)
MELODYCORE/PUNK. PROPAGANDHI join the Epitaph roster with their new album "failed states", just in time for their politically engaged anthems to form a soundtrack to that magical theatrical production known as the US elections. "failed states" is the band's 6th album, and their 2nd as a four-piece. This has led to a distinctive thickening and fortifying of the band's sound, to the point where they now achieve maximum heaviness, in a good way. This is most definitely the best PROPAGANDHI album yet, full of loud, fast, indignant songs that stick in your head. Vinyl version includes a free CD of this entire album.
PROPAGANDHI
how to clean everything (1993/FAT WRECK)
MELODYCORE/PUNK. The 1st wave of Canadian vegans to cross the US punk border. A whole bunch of fast melodic songs that'll make you wanna laugh as the government burns to the ground. Songs about megan, bacon and vegans.
PROPAGANDHI
more rock, less talk (1996/FAT WRECK)
MELODYCORE/PUNK. Again, an awesome album. Probably the best band from Canada and one of the greatest album ever. Lyrics are fun and intelligent. If you're into political music, take this one! If you didn't like the last album, you'll hate this one. What a bunch of hosers, eh?
PROPAGANDHI
potemkin city limits (2006/FAT WRECK)
MELODYCORE/PUNK. Sometimes you have to wait for a good thing, and a PROPAGANDHI record is no exception, in fact it’s become something to expect. As always these Canadians push the limits of musicianship and politics, leaving their fans not only educated, but cheering for more! Ten bar-raising tracks of smart, social, political, and humorous punk magic.
PROPAGANDHI
today's empires, tommorrow's ashes (2001/FAT WRECK)
MELODYCORE/PUNK. "today's empires, tommorrow's ashes" deliver 14 anthems of fast, heavy, irreverant, melodic punk-rock with nods to mid '80s political hardcore. Not just another pop-punk album filled with songs about their girlfriends.
PROPHECY OF DOOM
total mind war (2012/AGIPUNK)
CRUST-HARDCORE/METAL. PROPHECY OF DOOM broke the barriers between the hardcore scene, death-metal and grindcore in the late '80s. One of the heaviest and most destructive band coming from UK in these years, always loyal to their punk attitude and with a strong concern on lyrics. This full-length compiles an unreleased radio session from 1991 on side-a, plus the complete "ego death grind" demo from 1996 on the other side. Now you have the chance to complete your PROPHECY OF DOOM discography with some of their best stuff ever. Limited edition of 500 copiesl.
PROTEST THE HERO
fortress (2008/VAGRANT)
METALCORE. PROTEST THE HERO are showing a lot of metal veterans how to write well-crafted songs while shredding their instruments. "fortress" is tighter, more concise, and overall a heavier album, but the classic riffage and insane musicianship are still very much in tact. The album also brings vocalist Rody to the forefront and showcases his incredible range. Look for "fortress" to elevate PROTEST THE HERO into the upper echelon of heavy music.
PROTESTANT
antagonist (2009/HALO OF LIES)
HARDCORE. PROTESTANT deliver 3 tracks of exploding and brutal hardcore on this 7". Sure, there are the heavy and dark melodies over hard rhythms and thundering beats, but PROTESTANT are a lot more hardcore than that with their speed and aggressiveness. Where the main path here is in fact dark and powerful hardcore the music takes more than one turn with the occasional doom-laden riffs lurking around one corner and blastbeats around another. Spitting vocals, ravelling riffs, and an alternation and combination of the crushing rhythms and rapid deliverances makes the word powerful seem like an understatement with it comes to the three tracks on this 7". Hand screened covers and with 8 page booklet.
PROTESTANT
judgements (2010/HALO OF FLIES/VENDETTA)
HARDCORE. "judgements" deliver once more 9 songs of fast, bitter midwestern hardcore. After a slew of releases over the last years, this is PROTESTANT throwing down the gauntlet and cutting the shit. Passionate sound influenced by bands like CATHARSIS, KYLESA, FROM ASHES RISE or RORSCHACH but still unique.
PROTESTANT
reclamation (2012/HALO OF FLIES)
Milwaukee's hardest working band is back with a release that may be only 5 songs but runs the gamut of moods and influences from heavy, dark, and metallic hardcore to slow, melodic, and brooding to fast and energetic, bringing to mind CATHARSIS and later FROM ASHES RISE. Vinyl includes a digital download card.
