BACK WHEN / SETUP, THE
split (2005/INIT)
POST/SCREAMO-HARDCORE. BACK WHEN returns with a pummeling epic 5 min. song which is a halfway point between the "swords against the father" 7" and their full-length "we sang as ghosts" while on the flip side Richmond's THE SETUP, fresh from their split on Electric Human Project, blast full-speed ahead with two brand new songs combining the finer elements of hardcore, punk, and metal with an ex-member of LIGHT THE FUSE AND RUN on guitar. Beautiful gatefold-opening packaging courtesy of Jonathan Tvrdik.
BACKFIRE
my broken world/in harm's way (2012/GSR)
HARDCORE. This Double LP brings together the "my broken world" and "in harm's way". BACKFIRE's music is aggressive and the songs are solid and strong. Everything is there, the razor sharp guitars slashing from left to right, the armoured tank artillery, the collossal earhquake like basslines, all mixed with the signature vocals that spew forth lyrics of angst and frustration. BACKFIRE succeeded in setting standards in the Dutch hardcore scene. The double LP is limited to 300 items, comes on colored vinyl, 180gr vinyl, is housed in a gatefold-cover and includes a digital download card.

BACKMASKER
effigies (2012/CREATOR-DESTRUCTOR)
MELODY-PUNK. Throughout the 5 tracks that make up their debut 10", "effigies", by Los Angeles/Oakland's BACKMASKER delves into territories that would please fans of HOT WATER MUSIC and PENNYWISE. You'll get 12 songs of upset violence on their side. CHAINSAW TO THE FACE from New Jersey bring you plain power-violence. Crushing breakdowns, blistering fast parts and the bleak outlook on life that is only matched by DESPISE YOU.
BACKSLIDER / NIMBUS TERRIFIX
split (2011/HAUNTED HOTEL)
GRINDCORE. From the ashes of Pennsylvania maniacs DEAD RADICAL and BARBARIAN LORD rises NIMBUS TERRIFIX, a barely comprehensible mind-fuck of mathematical time changes and off-the-wall hardcore destruction. Flip this little fucker over and you have BACKSLIDER, one-part blasting hardcore/power-violence, one-part brains burnt to a crisp sludge. Not for fans of weak, rehashed bullshit.
BACKTRACK
darker half (2011/REAPER)
HARDCORE. Uncompromising NYHC flag-bearers, BACKTRACK, have been working hard on their debut full-length, "darker half". Their album-titled single has already made its way around blogs, music news sites and message boards with more singles to be released all the way through street date. BACKYARD BABIES
People like people like people like us (2006/CENTURY MEDIA)
ROCK 'N' ROLL. BACKYARD BABIES formed in Nassjo as the current Swedish invasion was starting to blossom (i.e. The Hives, The Hellacopters etc.). After their 1991 and a 1994 full-length called "Diesel and power", guitarist Dregen put the Babies on hiatus to work with his other band, THE HELLACOPTERS. Upon recommencing in 1997, the BACKYARD BABIES went about releasing a series of 3 albums that epitomized what rock 'n' roll is all about: decadent music with raw attitude that makes your blood pump. On "People like people like people like us", Dregen found himself reunited in the studio with former bandmate Nicke of THE HELLACOPTERS. With Andersson at the helm as producer, Sweden's bad boys of punk 'n' roll have returned with their most accomplished collection of songs to date.
BAD ADVICE
do not resuscitate (2012/GRAVE MISTAKE)
HARDCORE-PUNK. This 7" from Richmond's BAD ADVICE has been in the making for the better part of 4 years. BAD ADVICE features Brandon and Eric from GOVERNMENT WARNING/DIRECT CONTROL on double guitar duties, Tony Bitch and Keith Babe from THE LADIES on vocals and bass, respectively, and Colin from CLOAK/DAGGER behind the drum kit; a Richmond all-star group of sorts. Originally recorded in 2008, finished in 2010, and now released in 2012, this 7" still sounds as vital and refreshing as the day these songs were written. BAD ADVICE managed to step out from the shadows of "side project" status by delivering a scathing blend of mid tempo '70s punk and pissed-fast early US hardcore, both live and now on record.
BAD AMERICAN
bruisers (2013/1124)
HARDCORE-PUNK. Raw hardcore-punk from the Lehigh Valley. Songs build, the trouble escalates, the uncertain tension, the songs explode in a rage of speed, power and hardcore release through freedom and exhaustion. BAD AMERICAN are a complete release. Features members of CARPENTER ANT, WESTON to name a few. Fast - burly - punk!
BAD ANTICS
s/t (2007/HARDWARE/AUDIOGORILLA)
HARDCORE-PUNK. This is the european repress of the 6 track debut 7" on Smokin Barrel, by BAD ANTICS from Fullerton, California. These 4 young mates playing energetic hardcore with an O.C. punk touch and actually sounds like a mixture out of JFA, D.I. and ADOLESCENTS. This is classic sounding, fast and snotty Southern California punk-rock. Awesome and good stuff worth checking out!
BAD ANTICS
the wave (2009/FLAT BLACK)
HARDCORE. Their 1st official release shows us a much faster tighter BAD ANTICS than their demo. Still staying true to their OC sound with riffage that brings to mind the great guitar work of RIKK AGNEW, they step it up a notch with the speed and precision of bands like RKL with a solid rhythm section and shouted vocals that can be likened to contemporary greats like nowadays GOVERNMENT WARNING.
