ROCKY VOTOLATO
true devotion (2010/DEFIANCE)
SINGER/SONGWRITER. ROCKY VOTOLATO writes graceful, understated, unpretentious songs demonstrating that simplicity is still a viable option for accomplished songwriters. His previous 2 releases found him exploring and paying homage to the folk and country music that shaped his early life in Texas while "true devotion" is a passionate, stripped down and mostly acoustic reflection on moments from his current life, showing where he is, where he has come from and where he's going. Vinyl includes a digital download card.

ROGER MIRET & THE DISASTERS
s/t (2002/HELLCAT)
STREET-PUNK. Through the early years of Reaganomics, New York became a melting pot/hub for a flourishing hardcore scene, dubbed New York hardcore. At the forefront of this scene was fronted by Roger Miret, whose assault and socio-political rants came to epitomize the essence of the NY hardcore style. ROGER MIRET & THE DISASTERS is street punk, not hardcore. Roger's approach is not unlike LARS FREDERIKSEN & THE BASTARDS. Great street anthems, hooks and great punk style. For Punk Rockers. Fans of LARS FREDERIKSEN, THE BUSINESS, SWINGIN' UTTERS and THE FORGOTTEN.
ROGER MIRET & THE DISASTERS
gotta get up now (2011/PEOPLE LIKE YOU)
PUNK-ROCK. AGNOSTIC FRONT vocalist Roger Miret returns with his band of punks with a 13-track dose of street-rock in the same vein as THE BUSINESS and THE HUNS with Miret's signature snarl found throughout. Thick 180gr vinyl version includes a digital download card.
ROGER MIRET & THE DISASTERS
my riot (2006/SAILOR'S GRAVE)
PUNK-ROCK. In 2001, THE DISASTERS released their self titled album and have been on tour ever since spreading their message, the voice of true street-punk and street rock 'n’ roll. Their new album, "my riot", sees the band exploring even more styles than ever before, including reggae, acoustic and straight up rock 'n’ roll. With the release of "my riot", ROGER MIET & THE DISASTERS are ready to hit the road and once again prove that there is still a place in the world for true, honest street-punk, rock 'n’ roll.
ROGUE STEADY ORCHESTRA
ROLLER, THE
wasted heritage (2011/CYCLOPEAN)
DOOM/SLUDGE-METAL. Austin's hesh-masters THE ROLLER return in 2011 with "wasted heritage". A a ritual in abrasive meditation through a barrage of sewer clogging riffs that unleash keys to a new dimension. After touring with Pelican, THE ROLLER sat down to record 4 tracks of drugged out doom with Bryan Ritchie of The Sword. This LP comes packaged in a beautiful gatefold jacket, on 180gr vinyl for those seeking a heavier trip than most. Colossal - welcome to prehistory.
ROMEO MUST DIE
s/t (2010/SADNESS OF NOISE)
HARDCORE. This is a one-sided LP by the newish band from Poland, from a small city where a priest, a cop and a politician have the last say. ROMEO MUST DIE are a mad and pissed off three-piece believing in the ethics of d.i.y., dumpsterdiving and being the sole animators of their local scene. The group delivers 6 songs (nearly 20min.) that are not far from the CATHARSIS, ARTIMUS PYLE and HIS HERO IS GONE kind of style. Technically very well played, passionate and downtuned crust influenced with low screaming vocals and lots of tempo variations. Heavy production and poetic lyrics make it one helluva powerful record. Colored vinyl comes with a screenprinted b-side.
ROOM 13
User/abuser (2008/CRUCIAL ATTACK)
HARDCORE-PUNK. Obnoxious, offensive, in-your-face, but this time having the last laugh, ROOM 13 will crack your head with their debut 7" "User/abuser". With a smooth live reputation of getting pissed at each other during shows and getting banned from pubs, this young, nihilistic hardcore-punks are here to spill their guts. Limited to 500 copies.
ROPES, THE
s/t (2011/YOUTH ATTACK)
HARDCORE. Never heard of THE ROPES? It's basically Chicago hardcore legends THE REPOS but with newer material, picking up where they left off on their last original LP. Raw, aggressive, menacing, blitzkrieg hardcore containing probably the best barking, rabid vocals. Short, fast and to the point, THE ROPES bulldoze through each song on this release. This deluxe re-release of their impossible to find self-titled 7" comes showcased in a custom foldout double-sided envelope sleeve, with a 16-page booklet featuring marvelous artwork and pressed to red vinyl in black dust sleeves.
RORSCHACH
remain sedate/protestant (2010/GERN BLANDSTEN)
HARDCORE. This re-pressing contains both classic records from this genre defining hardcore band. Both albums have been remixed and remastered. Members of RORSCHACH went on to RADIO TO SATURN, DIE 116, DEADGUY, KISS IT GOODBYE etc.. The CD is an 8 panel digipack.
ROSE CROSS
s/t (2012/DRUGGED CONSCIENCE)
PUNK-ROCK. This 7" captures 6 tracks from Gainesvilles own ROSE CROSS. They perfectly mix a frantic blend of the '77 Los Angeles sound Dangerhouse made famous (AVENGERS, BAGS,) with the Australian sound made famous by the likes of X or THE VICTIMS. Frontwoman Keri Smith's cold vocal delivery is a perfect ying to the punk & roll yang of the band, lead by guitarist Rich Gibb. They stop on a dime and there is very little filler in these songs. Straight to the point and no nonsense. This limited pressing of 500 copies comes with two-colored silk-screened covers.
ROSE FUNERAL
the resting sonata (2009/METAL BLADE)
GRINDCORE/DEATH-METAL. Playing a no-holds-barred style of grinding death-metal, Cincinnati's ROSE FUNERAL are set to announce themselves to the metal world with "the resting sonata" which features lightning-quick drumming, fast paced riffs, bone crushing breakdowns and a hint of melody, all with vocals screamed with both gutteral growls and high-pitched shrieks.
ROSE KEMP
unholy majesty (2008/AURORA BOREALIS)
PROG-ROCK/DOOM/BLACK-METAL. Influenced by classic black-metal, doom and '70s prog-rock the album is a schizophrenic mix of grossly pretentious soul bearing and darkly pretty melodies meted out with the lofty precision of an opera-star in a shoebox. Claustrophobic, intense, and more than occasionally ridiculous, it’s a commanding performance from ROSE KEMP, even if it fails to command our interest for long. "unholy majesty" contains 50min. of broadly gothic, broadly neurotic, tomb - raiding agit-folk from Bristol’s crusty old sea-harpy, ROSE KEMP.
