STIRLING SAYS
balbao (2010/ADAGIO 830)
POST/INDIE-ROCK. STIRLING SAYS (former FUNERAL DINER) have really beefed up their sound and cranked the amps and feedback since their split 7" with KATIE THE PEST. "balboa" has such an awesomely raw and free wheeling guitar driven sound, reminding us of that awesome intersection of the late '80s SST scene (DINOSAUR JR., SCREAMING TREES or DAS DAMEN) and the early beginnings of the Sub Pop roster (ERIC'S TRIP, SEAWEED) and that sound is so totally refreshing. This is the kind of record perfect for roadtrips as the songs on "balboa" really do flow with a never-ending summer charm.
STOCKHOLM SYNDROME
One way out (2004/625)
HARDCORE. Debut of San Francisco distort-thrash, chock full of scenester goodness. 6 songs of full throttle hardcore with no bullshit. Two years in the making, put out just in time for the band's demise.
STOCKPILE
s/t (2011/DESTROY ME)
HARDCORE. Raging debut 7" from Philly's own STOCKPILE. Completely relentless drumming drive the 6 songs as the scathing vocals cut through the driving riffs. This is d-beat hardcore in its truest form, pummeling and fast, which only slows down enough for you to catch your breath before it blasts back in. After a killer demo tape this is a great 1st release.
STOIC VIOLENCE
s/t (2013/VIDEO DISEASE/KATORGA WORKS)
HARDCORE. After a well-received raw demo, the band decided to go a completely different route with recording techniques and entered a proper studio. The result of that session is presented here, 8 songs of biting, hate-filled hardcore executed to perfection. All the noisier elements of the demo tape are gone, instead the band opted for clean, clear audio to grasp the full power of their sound. Chainsaw guitars, unhinged, out-of-control drumming, an incredibly fuzzy bass and self-loathing vocals, channeling the spirits of POISON IDEA, NECROS, and THE F.U.'S.
STOLEN PARTS
s/t (2010/KISS OF DEATH)
PUNK-ROCK. Members of OFF WITH THEIR HEADS, MONIKERS, BRIDGE AND TUNNEL, and LATTERMAN make up Brooklyn's STOLEN PARTS. These singalong songs will definitely get stuck in your head. Catchy melodies and gravelly vocals remind you of early 90s' Lookout Records bands like GREEN DAY and CRIMPSHRINE. Is that enough name dropping for you?
out of stock
STONE AXE
s/t (2009/ROADURN)
HARD-ROCK. You may like classic-rock...the MOS GENERATOR frontman's new project, the 2 man STONE AXE, deserve an essentially 10 track lesson in rock. Highlights? The whole album...you like CREAM, FREE, THIN LIZZY, THE FACES, ACV/DC and DEEP PURPLE? Well, I bet you don't like them nearly as much as STONE AXE. Still, that shouldn't stop you from enjoying the hell out of this impressive debut. Highly recommended.
STONEBURNER
sickness will pass (2012/SEVENTH RULE)
SLUDGE-METAL/HARDCORE. Featuring members of BURIED AT SEA, HEATHEN SHRINE, and BURIED BLOOD, STONEBURNER's goal from day one was to combine the heaviest of riffs, with deeply personal lyrics loaded for bear with fuzz-storted heavy riff-chuggery and throat-ripped vile vokills. "sickness will pass" is an ugly, visceral and truly terrifying beast of an album. It sounds monumental and is herculean in scale and is the benchmark of which all future releases will be judged.
STONED AMBASSADORS, THE
bring you down (2011/LABOR OF LOVE)
POST-PUNK. Brooklyn's THE STONED AMBASSADORS deliver 4 songs in the grand tradition of THE BRAIN JONESTOWN MASSACRE, THE STOOGES and THE JESUS AND MARY CHAIN. The follow up to their self-released 7" captures a more aggressive, dynamic side of the band. Three original heartbreakers and a cover of THE WHO's "the good's gone". Limited to 400 copies on black vinyl, sleeves printed on recycled board. Vinyl includes a MP3 download card.
STONERIDER
three legs of trouble (2008/TRUSTKILL)
STONER-ROCK. STONERIDER arrives with whip-ass grooves and balls-out rock 'n' roll for anyone who has ever thrown back a brew to LED ZEPPELIN or AC/DC or lit a spliff chilling out to LYNYRD SKYNYRD or even PINK FLOYD. The album was written collaboratively, with the 4 former members of southern-rock band FIGHT PARIS sitting in a room together jamming and working off of each other. Whereas FIGHT PARIS was fast and thrashy, STONERIDER slows things down a bit and lets the songs groove, even dabbling with mid-tempo ballads.
STOP BREATHING
s/t (2012/NO IDEA)
HARDCORE-PUNK. California-based STOP BREATHING’s debut channels the energy and urgency of their area’s historic Nardcore predecessors, while merging it with late '80s hardcore. Imagine R.K.L. partying it up in New York City during the late '80s and you get a picture of where they're coming from. Colored vinyl includes a digital download card.
STOP BREATHING
santa cruz (2013/ROTTEN TO THE CORE)
HARDCORE-PUNK. "santa cruz" from California based punkers STOP BREATHING. This is the follow up to their well received debut full-length. This 7" offers 5 tracks in the true tradition of Southern California punk-rock. You'll get 4 originals and a cover of "who are you" by VOID. Limited to 500 copies.
STOP IT !!
The demo (2005/WAKING)
STOPS, THE
s/t (2012/RESIDUE)
POST/PUNK-ROCK. nTHE STOPS are a newish band from Portland that keeps up the pace by playing driving, dark-melodic punk. These 5 women put on the hurt with 4 essential tracks that are catchy and driving at the same time. They have the kind of sound that anyone with taste would want playing in a sweat-soaked basement in your shitty hometown. "waiting for today" and "up looking down" will crack open your skull and bury a great tune deep into your brain... try to get it out! One time pressing of 600 copies.
STORM & STRESS
s/t (2007/BLACKTOP)
HARDCORE. STORM & STRESS from Ibbenbüren, Germany plays powerful and modern hardcore with a lot of melody and angry over-the-top vocals. STORM & STRESS are creating a sound all of their own; somewhere between the familiar echoes of modern hardcore bands such as SINKING SHIPS and BETRAYED, but making their own unique. This fresh and promising 7 song debut will not disappoint any fan of modern hardcore sound.
STORM & STRESS
sin (2008/LET IT BURN)
Hardcore. "sin" is STORM & STRESS 1st output as a 4 piece. You could say back to basics but that wouldn't come up with this band. Prepare to be destroyed. There are no positive vibes, there’s nothing embracing the listener. This is ugly, painful and dirty. But most important: it’s true. Imagine a motorcycle gang of disillusioned outsiders coming to your town to raise some hell.
