SKA/PUNK. "A poet's life" began as a “thank you” from TIM ARMSTRONG to RANCID fans, bringing his 1st solo release to the wide world, backed by some of the strongest radio support. With a killer old-school two-tone groove, helped along by Hellcat labelmates THE AGGROLITES, "A poet’s life" is loose, punky, infectious, and shamelessly danceable. First single “Into Action” features a mod dance groove, a horn chart Motown would be proud of, and the alluring co-vocals of Skye Sweetnam. Comes with a bonus DVD featuring videos of every song along with ARMSTRONG's typical fan-friendly pricing, "A poet’s life" is far from being a holdover between RANCID releases. This one is taking on a life of its own!

SINGER/SONGWRITER. Throughout "40 miler", the rough-hewn characters populating BARRY's lyrics refuse to surrender even in the face of long odds. "40 miler" also finds TIM BARRY taking his spare folk-country sound in a different direction. This time around, BARRY opts for more raucous, rocking approach on several tracks, adding more electric guitar, organ, piano, and harmonica, as well as the gorgeous voice of Richmond songstress Julie Karr to the mix. Colored vinyl includes a digital download card.

AMBIENT/POST-ROCK. This new and welcomely out of the blue TIM HECKER release is composed of sketch pieces recorded in 2010 in preparation for what would become the outstanding "ravedeath, 1972" album. All of the compositions are piano driven and minimal in nature. This is not a new TIM HECKER album, but rather a peek behind the curtains into the working process. That these pieces stand on their own as compelling soundworks is a testament to the fact that Tim Hecker is at the absolute top of his game at the moment, and has been for years.

AMBIENT/POST-ROCK. Canadian ambient artist TIM HECKER has a new album called "ravedeath, 1972". Hecker has been churning out fuzzy, collage-based drones since 2001. To date he's put out 7 albums on labels like Kranky, Alien8 and Mille Plateux, most of which have met with considerable critical acclaim. The album is the epitome of TIM HECKER's style, a choir of synth bombards you from start to finish with sensualising symmetry. The arc of the album is like a deep secret being buried. Sweet sounding pulses with dark undertones, the architecture of this music is actually pretty simple but implies a complex truth.

PUNK-ROCK. Tampa, Florida's THE TIM VERSION keep with the rich tradition of melodic-punk from No Idea records, playing 12 tracks of infectiously energetic rock 'n' roll music that takes its cues from bands like HOT WATER MUSIC, LEATHERFACE, LUCERO and DILLINGER FOUR. Though at first listen it’s a simple punk album, there are a handful of subtleties that prove "Decline of the southern gentleman" a solid release through and through. Underlying REPLACEMENTS-influenced guitar riffs and growly backup vocals fill the album until it nearly bursts with energy. This release marks a giant step forward for THE TIM VERSION, who have been playing together for nearly 10 years and have at least 8 releases under their belts.
