WALTER SCHREIFELS

SINGER/SONGWRITER. The debut solo album from the legendary Walter Schreifels (GORILLA BISCUITS, QUICKSAND, RIVAL SCHOOLS). From stripped-down acoustic meditations like the album's title track to Schreifels' psychedelic-tinged cover of AGNOSTIC FRONT's "society's sucker" and an intricately arranged version of his CIV classic "don't gotta prove it", "an open letter to the scene" is arguably the 1st project Schreifels has ever recorded that manages to incorporate all of his diverse influences and recontextualize them into a cohesive whole. After forming WAMPIRE, Rocky Tinder and Eric Phipps steadily began to make a name for themselves in the same Portland scene that has produced labelmates UNKNOWN MORTAL ORCHESTRA. The a-side "the hearse" serves as the perfect tintroduction for those unfamiliar with the band - its opening notes swelling instantly with electronic organs over a driving drum beat. The b-side, a cover of KRAFTWERK's "das modell", showcases another side of the duo by cloaking the original's industrial-synth-pop with a murkier aura underscored by chugging guitars. HARDCORE-PUNK. "knock one out" is the 3rd LP by these lovely arseholes. A little less noisy than past efforts, and a little more silly. Three English gentlemen, ex-members of all your favorite UK bands, goof off and have a bit of pervy old guy fun. But despite all the silliness, they manage to write both really catchy mid-tempo snotty punk anthems and really chaotic, harsh short/fast/loud hardcore numbers that capture their noise spirit. Obviously to be filed next to your SWANKYS records, but THE WANKYS have found their own noise-punk niche in the past few years, developing their own unique sound, style, and attitude unlike any other.

HARDCORE-PUNK. THE WANKYS from Kyushu Island, UK surprised all with their already classic "noise punk" 7". Having served their time in countless UK bands (DIRGE, ARCASM, E.N.T. etc.) this trio surely knew what they were trying to do when heading to the studio. "the very best of hero", their 1st full-length, is a masterpece of noise-punk. 14 tracks of trebble ladden madness that will knock you down. The recipe goes like this: an insane amount of guitar saturation, primitive drumming, bass lines driving the song, lyrics about subject as deep as glue sniffing. This LP is a must for fans of GAI, early CONFUSE, DISORDER or LEBENDEN TOTEN. Not available for all that melody punks out there!

HARDCORE-PUNK. THE WANKYS 2nd studio album finally sees it's release on the bands preferred format hard vinyl. This incredible violent recording includes 8 songs. This is the musical equivalent of pissing in an electricity socket and sees the band blending their noise attacks with incredibly catchy punk-rock songs, all wrapped up with their trademark guitar fuzz attack. "the wank" magazine contains much non-sense including band history, lyrics, guitar tab, photos, comic strip and even a dot-to-dot penis drawing. This lavish package is all encased in an envelope.
