POST-ROCK/DRONE/INSTRUMENTAL. Since the project's beginning and end, the creators have continued on in such bands as 27, ANODYNE, ISIS, and RED SPAROWES. The variety and depth to this (mostly) instrumental music documentation reaches far beyond those of any mere side-project. These rock-based songs incorporate so many elements of drone the group could almost reside next to their celestial forefathers SUNN and EARTH. However, the usage of keyboard and electronic elements alongside several guitars make the album more comparable to SIGUR ROS than BLACK SABBATH, but without compromising any of the heavy metal elements the members have become most-known for. An important period of musical evolution is captured here!

DEATH/BLACK-METAL. Hailing from Los Angeles, WINDS OF PLAGUE have their share of Southern CA hardcore roots running in their backyard. This band perfectly fits in the image of modern, aggressive metal with all kinds of influences thrown on one heap, mix it and make your own blend of it. This amalgam of melodic death-metal, metalcore, classical heavy metal, a pinch of black-metal and an everlasting background of symphonic arrangements may not be the easiest to fathom, but these guys surely know what they are doing. WINO
adrift (2010/EXILE ON MAINSTREAM)
FOLK/SINGER/SONGWRITER. We don't need to rave about the legacy of the man who is Robert Scott Weinrich, better known as WINO. If names such as SAINT VITUS, THE OBSESSED, SPIRIT CARAVANm THE HIDDEN HAND or SHRINEBUILDER ring a bell at you then you know anyway what we are talking. He has been putting his soul on the line for nearly 3 decades with his unique brand of Sabbath-inspired doom/stoner-rock. To add to his legacy he now will follow fan's and collegue's requests to record a fully acoustic solo record. With this being his most personal and intense recording to date WINO releases a different view on his personality and history. Stripped down to the bare minimum of just his voice and his guitar he follow classical American songwritership ideals by being a mixture of worded emotions and storytelling. With his approach, Wino lifts himself on a level with great songwriters such as JOHNNY CASH or BOB DYLAN. Vinyl is limited to 700 items only.

DOOM/STONER-ROCK. On the back of his set with SAINT VITUS, WINO played a mix of material from the just released WINO album "puntuated equilibibrium", THE OBSESSED-material and more. The set was recorded in multi track and mixed and mastered specially for this release by Mell Dettmer (Sunn o))), Earth, Burning Witch & more). The vinyl is housed in a well designed gatefold sleeve.

FOLK/SINGER/SONGWRITER. The legacy of Scott "Wino" Weinrich in the world of heavy music is indisputable. Now he teams up with fellow Conny Ochs, a songwriter so pure and honest in his output that he seems to be the perfect partner. Through music they discovered a very similar approach to life and art and a shared wisdom in creating music. It really seemed like 2 souls becoming one after they have learned to know each other. THe result are 11 soulful tunes that speak for themselves, personalities shine, truth within. All songs got written and performed by Wino and Conny together. The album contains 1 cover by TOWNES VAN ZANDT. The artwork contains drawings by both artists and follows the dedicated and deeply intense approach of the whole album.

POST-HARDCORE. The power-trio WINTERLONG was formed in 2010 following the breakup of ROBOTS AND EMPIRE. Their sound melds the drive and power of post-hardcore acts such as QUICKSAND and the melodic sense and honesty of CRAZY HORSE with a touch of KING CRIMSON-inspired prog. In general, WINTERLONG is free of post-modern irony, unless hardcore-scene related. They offer atonal yet melodic riffs, chant-like vocal harmonies, and virtuosic drumming.

SLUDGE/METAL. One of the most interesting heavy bands to emerge from the London Underground scene in recent times is WINTERS. They display a sound that conjures up the sludge-olithic heaviness of MELVINS being dragged along by the mournful moroseness of SAINT VITUS whilst being carried on by the valium induced melodies of "bleach"-era NIRVANA. Heavy they certainly are, though definitely not in the tirelessly worn out cookie monster satan spewing generic tradition of recent years. The sound of WINTERS is born from a more organic source. They describe themselves as a "blend of melodic funeral music mixed with a hint of Ace Frehley at half speed".

POST/PUNK-ROCK. The impact of the early WIPERS records on the musical scene of the '90s cannot be overemphasized. After '93s slow, haunting and introspective "silver sail", Sage and crew returned to the classic WIPERS sound with "the herd". Originally issued in 1996 the album is fast, fuzzy and moody. Drenched in rocket-fuel guitar tones, the paranoid beauty that spilled forth from the early recordings. On slower pieces Sage's urgent and virtuosic leads peel away at the psyche leaving only underlying and once hidden truths. Comes on 180gr vinyl and a cardboard cover.

POST-PUNK. At a time when back catalog outsells fresh creativity and newcomers achieve fame by adding a lick of paint to their parents' record collections, it's unusual to find a band who, despite plying their trade for decades, are willing and able to make new work that's as vital and relevant as their own illustrious past recordings. WIRE are such a band, and with "red barked tree" they have succeeded in making a statement that will sound as strong in 30 years as their celebrated historical oeuvre does today.
