DEATH BY STEREO
death is my only friend (2009/SERJICAL STRIKE)

"death is my only friend" finds the band's sound venturing into uncharted musical waters. The band exhibits the ability to write the catchiest of melodic anthems alongside chaotic landscapes.
DEATH BY STEREO
if looks could kill i'd watch you die (1999/INDECISION)

DEATH BY STEREO
into the valley of death (2003/EPITAPH)
HARDCORE. By tearing elements from every corner of the extreme music landscape, DEATH BY STEREO has created a uniquely brutal album. This apocalyptic concoction of furious drums, damaging bass lines, atom-splitting guitar riffs and vocals that range from visceral growls to decibel-decimating screeches, "into the valley of death" reiterates the fact that the word genre may be struggling for its last breath. Simply put, this album is an intersection where heavy metal and punk rock run stop signs at 100mph and explode into one and other! Limited picture-disk edition pressing.
DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE
narrow stairs (2009/BARSUK/ATLANTIC)
EMO/INDIE-ROCK. The rabidly anticipated new album from Seattle's grace-rock kings is a major work, blending subtle songwriting and amazing production with the band's boundless creativity and thoughtful rock. "narrow stairs" is a tight and punchy departure from their previous, more experimental efforts. Ben (POSTAL SERVICE) and company continue their domination of the indie-rock world that incorporates guitars, pianos, keyboards and just a touch of electronics. Available on vinyl with a bonus 7" featuring 2 additional tracks.
DEATH DO US PART
Legend (2006/FILLED WITH HATE)
METALCORE. The South Jersey metalheads are back on track and they improved a lot after their first MCD on Homicidal Records. The awesome debut full-length contains 10 neckbreaking songs full of melodic metal-riffing and lots of mosh. All in all their sound could be described as a mix of FULL BLOWN CHAOS, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, IT DIES TODAY and THROWDOWN.
DEATH IS NOT GLAMOROUS
soft clicks (2008/BLACKTOP)
HARDCORE. DEATH IS NOT GLAMOROUS from Norway won't dissapoint with their 12 new tracks. After releasing a couple of 7"s this record will wake up a whole lot more people around the world. The songs showcase a constantly evolving sound which is still based around the winning hardcore punk formula but reflects more melody and more variety. DEATH IS NOT GLAMOROUS is a great band that delivering a great full-length. You will love the artwork, the packaging, the poster and most importantly the songs.
DEATH IS NOT GLAMOROUS
undercurrents (2006/DEAD AND GONE)
HARDCORE. Formed from the ashes of DAMAGE CONTROL, Norway's DEATH IS NOT GLAMEROUS move away from the more youth-crew sound and more towards the melodic-hardcore side of things. These 7 songs are the perfect follow up to their highly acclaimed 2004 demo, with the music being very much like that of LIFETIME, KID DYNAMITE "can't slow down"-era SAVES THE DAY.
DEATH IS NOT GLAMOROUS
wide eyes (2007/RUN FOR COVER)
HARDCORE. This CD collects almost all of the splits and 7" tracks from Norway's DEATH IS NOT GLAMOROUS, who play an upbeat and melodic style of hardcore that harkens back to GORILLA BISCUITS' "Start today" and LIFETIME's "Jersey's Best Dancers". CD contains 16 tracks from the "Demo" 7", "Undercurrents" 7" and from the split's with ANOTHER YEAR and DOWN AND OUTS. If you already missed them, get it now!
DEATH TO TYRANTS
(0/)
POST-HARDCORE/INSTRUMENTAL. An incredible body of work from the New Hampshire master musicians. Eleven songs span 40 min. of powerful dynamics and soaring melody. Few albums contain such moments of beauty and brutality. This is not to be missed!
DEATH VESSEL
nothing is precious.. (2008/SUB POP)
SINGER/SONGWRITER. DEATH VESSEL might sound like the moniker of some punishing metal outfit, but it's actually the name under which the psychedelic-leaning singer-songwriter Joel Thibodeau. "Nothing is precious enough for us" is Thibodeau's follow-up to 2005's "Stay close". He recorded the new album in New Jersey with Pete Donnelly of the Figgs, who has long collaborated on and produced Thibodeau's music. Fans of similar psych-folk artists like ROKY ERICKSON and JANDEK will find much to like here. Vinyl version includes a digital download card.
DEATH YELL
Morbid rites (2007/NUCLEAR WAR NOW)
DEATH YELL is Chilean black death metal from 1989. This release compiles their cult demo "Vengeance from Darkness" plus a rare live recording from 1990. Their sound can be compared to that of early BLASPHEMY mixed with early MORBID ANGEL with a South American twist.
DEATHBED / KOLT
split (2006/BROWN)
HARDCORE. Helsinki-based chaotic hardcore band KOLT opens the Split with blistering and brutal hardcore in the vein of CONVERGE and BOTCH. The guitar riffs are working and the songs are good. DEATHBED doesn´t open their set as heavily as KOLT and the band is really way more melodic than KOLT is. Jani Asp has a great voice and he's definitely the most deadly weapon in DEATHBED. DEATHBED´s sound is way more mature and they have created way better 3 song package than KOLT. For DEATHBED and KOLT doing a split together was definitely a good idea. Like always you can´t expect what you hear from a split CD and this one doesn´t make expection to it. Both bands have some quite good ideas.
DEATHCYCLE
prelude to tyranny (2008/LIFELINE)
HARDCORE. With regard to history and the mindset that goes along with being a New Yorker, DEATHCYCLE return with "prelude to tyranny", the follow-up to their 2006 debut. Not straying from the path they carved early on, DEATHCYCLE created a record as crushingly bleak and politically aware as its predecessor while maintaining their unique hybrid of hardcore and metal. The influence of NYHC legends SHEER TERROR and early AGNOSTIC FRONT are as prevalent as the nods given to MOTÖRHEAD, DISCHARGE and the early Earache Records roster culminating into riffs as destructive as the lyrics are biting.
DEATHCYCLE
s/t (2006/LIFELINE/CHAINSAW SAFETY)
HARDCORE. Hailing from New York, the 4 members of DEATHCYCLE have been a part of the music and political scene for over 2 decades. Their debut full-length album is a testament to their musical influences and their outspoken political beliefs. In a time where people are afraid to voice their true opinions for fear of being labeled controversial, DEATHCYCLE know no other way. Combining the musical elements of heavy, early crossover metal with classic hardcore energy (think MOTÖRHEAD mixed wth early C.O.C. with classic NYC hardcore parts), these 4 musicians have been going non-stop since their inception.
DEATHSPIRIT
s/t (2008/LET IT BURN)
HARDCORE. A pissed off tribute to a music- and lifestyle that used to be risky and wayward. For fans of hardcore and MOST PRECIOUS BLOOD, BLACKLISTED, NO WARNING or FROM ASHES RISE.
