Disconnection... imminent (2004/LOVITT)
" Disconnection_Imminent" is an extension of ideas hinted at in the CDep. With more bravado, the album is kinetic but measured. As an unconscious reaction to overt falsity and the current stream of commerce, Decahedron lashes out to create a political record that lacks neither intelligence nor passion. Lally's trademark sinewy bass lines and Hamacher's lockstep drumming are the perfect foil for Cinca's taut guitar work. Decahedron combines sharp invective and blistering ferocity to produce one of the most memorable full-length debuts.
Youth murder anthems (2002/DEATHWISH)
HARDCORE. This is the debut release from one of Boston's newest and hardest working underground bands. Creating passionate and heartfelt music full of emotive power and urgency, this release mixes modern hardcore with aspects of '80s era D.C. punk. Features artwork by Damian Genuardi (of THE EXPLOSION and IN MY EYES).
DEEDS OF FLESH
of what's to come (2008/UNIQUE LEADER)
TECH-METAL. The forefathers of technical extreme metal are back after 2 years since the huge success of their last release "crown of souls". Their latest effort "of what's to come" is nothing short of a masterpiece combining the usual DEEDS OF FLESH sound with many added new elements, twisted and memorable guitar riffs and lead work, blistering drums, powerful vocals and mind blowing bass lines. Easily one of the most highly anticipated new releases in its genre.
three things at once (2009/GRAVE MISTAKE)
HARDCORE-PUNK. This CD (collecting all 3 7"s - "you're screwed", "manic euphoria", and "paranoid futures") release is a comprehensive presentation of DEEP SLEEP, manifesting how the band has honed and developed their infectious sound with each release. "three things at once" contains 21 songs in all of early '80s California hardcore-punk worship, complete with lyrics and liner notes, this anthology spans the 1st three years of this Baltimore's band's existence.
s/t (2006/DAMAGED GOODS)
HARDCORE. This is the official reissue of the original DEEP WOUND record, available for the first time on CD, complete with previously unreleased bonus tracks for a total of 27 songs. Colored vinyl with just 24 tracks are available, too! DEEP WOUND was a part of the Western Massachusetts hardcore scene in the early '80s and was the original musical outlet for Lou Barlow and J. Mascis who would go on to form DINOSAUR JR. and SEBADOH. But these songs are about as far away musicially as you can get from those bands, sounding more like SIEGE, DYS and SSD. DEEP WOUND were a really fucking good hardcore band. Living in this society has left a DEEP WOUND. Get used to it.
deerhoof vs. evil (2011/POLYVINYL)
NOISE/INDIE-ROCK. Self-recorded, mixed, and mastered in rehearsal spaces and band members’ basements with no engineers or outside input, "deerhoof vs. evil" dresses up DEERHOOF’s wellknown recklessness in a newfound elastic groove - one filled with big-hit choruses and exuberantly unfamiliar colors. The musical equivalent of hormones raging out of control, the record explodes out of the speakers with its gawky triumph and inflamed sentimentality. This is DEERHOOF's ode to their own adolescence. This is "deerhoof vs. evil". LP includes a MP3 download card.
milk man (2011/POLYVINYL )
NOISE/INDIE-ROCK. DEERHOOF's "milk man" is being reissued on vinyl. The starting point for "milk man" was a cartoon character created by Japanese artist Ken Kagami. In contrast to the earnest guitar rock that predominated on their previous album "apple o'", "milk man" featured a broad palette of orchestral colors, echoes of music theater and camp, polished and gaudy arrangements, Stravinskian harmonies, and a more stylized. Limited to 1000 copies on 180gr banana colored vinyl includes a MP3 download card of the album and new mixes and sequencing not included on the original LP.
offend maggie (2008/KILL ROCK STARS)
NOISE/INDIE-ROCK. Say what you will about DEERHOOF, but they know how to write a beautiful song. And "offend maggie" is all the more beautiful for the fact that it seems to come out of nowhere. For all its sparkling musicanship, it sounds casually tossed off like it was nothing at all. It's a new sound for the band as much as it's a new sound for pop music. For those who have been following their remarkable career, "offend maggie" represents another DEERHOOFian high-water mark, even as it shows another abrupt shift in direction. One listen and you'll know "offend maggie" could only be DEERHOOF. Two listens and you'll be in love.
empty days & sleepless nights (2011/BRIDGE NINE)
HARDCORE. Massachusetts-based Defeater has been hailed as "a new artistic peak for hardcore" by Punknews.org and their sophomore full-length release, "Empty Days & Sleepless Nights," further cements the accolade. "Empty Days & Sleepless Nights" is a 14-song double LP (single CD) and the first four tracks showcase a new, acoustic side of the band that sounds a lot like Rocky Votolato and Ryan Adams. However, they return to their hardcore roots and deliver ten huge-sounding, heavy and catchy tracks to round out the album.
lost ground (2010/BRIDGE NINE)
HARDCORE. With "lost ground", DEFEATER is armed with 6 new songs about a man's journey from enlisting in the military to post-war life. From their critically acclaimed debut, "travels", this new story is set to a volatile soundtrack of hardcore fury, punk melody and metal technicality while the band explores some cleaner and bigger-sounding dynamics. "lost ground" is a musically precise and genre-bending release from this forward-thinking band. Vinyl version includes MP3 download code.
travels (2011/BRIDGE NINE)
HARDCORE. Initially released on Topshelf Records, a label owned by a Bridge Nine employee, Bridge Nine recognized the talent and passion of DEFEATER. Boston's DEFEATER play an emotional, heavy and melodic style of hardcore with lyrics that delve into personal and reflective issues, with each song representing a different piece of time, ranging from a moment to years. "travels" will appeal to fans of bands like MODERN LIFE IS WAR, early COMEBACK KID and THE CARRIER.
sharp blade sinks deep.. (2009/WILLOWTIP)
GRINDCORE. Featuring former members of ANODYNE and KALIBAS, DEFEATIST is a three-man grind outfit from New York City. No gimmicks, no posing, no bullshit, DEFEATIST play straight up grindcore the way it was envisioned when NAPALM DEATH and REPULSION started the whole scene way back when. Short, fast, loud and gritty. This release combines all of the previous DEFEATIST vinyl releases onto one CD for the 1st time - 20 earbursting attacks!
From the start (2005/CRUCIAL RESPONSE)
You should think that there is little left to explore within the parameters of true hardcore music. Yet THE DEFENSE, with the debut album 'From The Start', has cooked up 10 instantly memorable hardcore jewels delivered with a combination of originality and emotion that gives this record its unique character.
no future no hope (2003/PUNK CORE)
PUNK-ROCK. Punk Core Records present the 2nd of 3 classic re-issues from Portland punk legends DEFIANCE. This time in the form of their sought-after debut album "no future, no hope", digitally re-mastered and beautifully re-packaged in a manner befitting this 1995 classic. Includes rare, never-before-seen photos from the era and complete lyrics. Even before groundbreaking albums like THE CASUALTIES' or THE UNSEEN's albums saw the light of day, this 13 song ripper influenced many and set the stage for the American street-punk scene as we know it today.
nothing last forever (2003/PUNK CORE)
PUNK-ROCK. The 3rd in a series of 3 classic re-issues from Portland punk legends DEFIANCE! This time in the form of their sought-after 2nd album "nothing lasts forever", digitally re-mastered and beautifully re-packaged in a manner befitting this 1998 classic. Includes rare, never-before-seen photos from the era and complete lyrics. This was to be the final recording made with the original line-up and the album's cryptic title had many at the time wondering if this was the end for DEFIANCE. Includes a killer rendition of "emergency" made popular by the MOTÖRHEAD and GIRLSCHOOL collaboration in 1983.
