CRUST-HARDCORE. VON BOOM is a Swedish band and the line up was coming together for the first time in 1984. The band is still up and running and here on this split they are performing 12 tracks. Fast tempo, stewing rhythms and punk shouting vocals. MOTOR BREATH is dealing with a rawer sound than VON BOOM and they find themself more towards rock 'n' roll. The crust they do is also adding influences from MOTÖRHEAD. As a bonus they do a cover of "diamond and rust", a song made famous by JUDAS PRIEST. A nice split release!

PROGRESSIVE-METAL. Ohio's MOUTH OF THE ARCHITECT continue to bring a massive, monolithic sound with 8 tracks clocking in at 56 min.. The group's new opus sees a true return to form and a conscious reconfiguring of modern experimental music as a whole. Their "touch me i'm sick" defined a generation of disenchanted middle-class malcontents bored stiff by the predictable mire that rock 'n' roll had become. With "the lucky ones", the band release their 8th studio album, coming a full 2 decades after the classic "superfuzz bigmuff". "the lucky ones" is a lean, punchy affair with almost nary a digression into the sort of dirge-blues nod-offs that have appeared on more recent releases. Instead, the 11 tracks here are tight, raw, and marked by insistent thumping rhythms and taught chunky riffs, laying the groundwork for one of the band’s most straight-ahead rock albums in years.
