NEW-SCHOOL HARDCORE. "Reborn to kill again" is 14 of OVERCAST's most classic tracks re-recorded for 2008, spanning the band's career that started in 1991. After their demise in 1998, vocalist Brian Muir went on to front SHADOWS FALL, while Mike started KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and Pete ended up in SEAMLESS.

HARDCORE. This split contains the work of 2 French bands that share a good chunk of their members (3 of the members from DONEFOR are also in OVERMARS) but play almost entirely different styles of music. OVERMARS takes almost 3min. to get going with some slow and droning clean guitars before blasting in with full-blown distortion, drums, and even keyboards, as well as absolutely scathing vocal screams. DONEFOR offers up only4 songs, but double the length of material as OVERMARS. Their style is a bit more direct as far as being melodic metalcore with gruff vocal yells/higher screams and a good sense of dissonance, but they're definitely better than average.

INDIE-ROCK. Chicago's Mike Kinsella (CAP'N JAZZ, JOAN OF ARC, OWLS etc.) is the sole creative output behind OWEN. From an artist who has, in the past, recorded entire albums in his childhood bedroom berating lost love and personal missteps, it's a new chapter. The end result is this record, a new extension in the lineage of OWEN's music. And being "at home with.." oneself never sounded so freeing. Kinsella brings to mind the acousticity of ELLIOTT SMITH with subtexts that range from the somber folk reflection of NICK DRAKE and the cracked emotionalism of PAUL WESTERBERG to the glorious pop melancholy of JOE PERNICE. INDIE-ROCK. "ghost town" is the 2011 album from Mike Kinsella, aka OWEN. Kinsella is best known for his other bands AMERICAN FOOTBALL and CAP'N JAZZ. The album features some of OWEN's loudest, rock-leaning moments to date - exemplified by the forcefully crescendoing outro and a screeching electric guitar solo. As he began writing his 5th album, Kinsella became a husband and a father. "new leaves", like its title suggests, is a new beginning for Mike Kinsella. Recorded over the course of 2 years "new leaves" retains elements of earlier OWEN material - but here, instead of lamenting failed relationships, Kinsella focuses on the new beginnings they allow. "BITS" is album number four for Brooklyn’s OXFORD COLLAPSE, but it’s a first for them in many ways. Some of those ways will be immediately apparent to those of you who’ve followed their raucous, boyish exploits since their 2006 Sub Pop debut "Remember the night parties", or from their earlier efforts. Their charming lack of guile, combined with a capable and focused aim towards the better of the ‘80s college-rock cognoscenti and Trouser Press favorites, has made for music that has found its way into backyards and across rooftops all over the city. Recorded in chunks throughout 2007 with Eric Emm at the Brothers Studios, and Chad Matheny in spaces all over town, "BITS" corrects for time and experience, and shows a band artistically riding its own peaks. The tension is still present in their three-way interplay (listen to them firing off of each other, squealing out of control at the end of “Back of the yards”) but the direction and presence in this set is open, flowing against anything they’ve done before. It’s the sound of fun turning into purpose, of a great band writing and playing their best songs, and knowing how great that feels. This is the new OXFORD COLLAPSE, as a band and as a record: straightforward; memorable; mature, but not necessarily grown-up; just better. It’s all heart and ingenuity, the joyous racket that connects C86 pop to the present, made by three guys who are realizing that they can be mayors.

BONECRUSHER was formed in 1992 as part of the Orange County punk scene. Today, BONECRUSHER are icons of Californian street-punk, they are still on their own feet: free and credible, real working class. The 8 previously unreleased tracks that make up ''noize overdose'' serve once more to underline the band's class.

HARDCORE. First released in 1996 and unavailable for years, these original copies of the PALEFIRE "last breath" MCD were recently uncovered and are available again for a limited time only. PALEFIRE was a part of the Orange County hardcore scene in the mid '90s and featured Brett of FM BATS on guitar and Dan of ADAMANTIUM on 2nd guitar. A song was later released on the "guilty by association" compilation on Indecision Records, so don't miss your chance to hear where it all began.
