SIX FEET UNDER
death rituals (2008/METAL BLADE)
DEATH-METAL. SIX FEET UNDER consistently delivers quality American death-metal, and "death rituals" is no exception. SIX FEET UNDER’s style is very recognizable, and they don’t deviate very far from that path. Mid-tempo songs are crushingly heavy, but have ample groove and hooks. There has been criticism of SIX FEET UNDER that every album sounds very similar, and while there’s no mistaking their sound, they do make an effort at injecting more diversity on "death rituals", which contains 13 tracks of groove-laden destruction complete with dark themes, featuring legendary vocalist Chris Barnes.
SIX REASONS TO KILL
reborn (2005/BASTARDIZED)
METALCORE. The Bulldozer returns with an uncompromising masterpiece of modern metal and hardcore serving the full range between skull-splitting blastbeats and crushing melodies. SIX REASONS TO KILL is "reborn" and again easily sets standards in brutality and heaviness!
SKARE TACTIC
remember when (2003/THORP)
Spearheaded by a deep love for the staples of traditional hardcore (Madball, Agnostic Front, Sick Of It All, etc.) Coupled with a fresh grasp of the newer styles by such torchbearers as Hatebreed, Terror, and Death Threat, Skare Tactic has forged a blazing path of hardcore force and brutality.
SKARE TACTIC
the rage within (2007/GHOST TOWN)
HARDCORE. After 2 releases for Thorp Records, including a split with COMIN' CORRECT, LA's SKARE TACTIC present their 1st full-length for their own bass player's label, Ghost Town Records. "the rage within" is 9 tracks of heavy, pounding hardcore with thunderous drums, metallic riffs and chugging breakdowns that bring to mind other LA area bands such as TERROR, DONNYBROOK and THROWDOWN. SKARE TACTIC is a bludgeoning force to be sure, but one put to good use. Get the record, learn the words, head out to the show and get yourself.
SKARHEAD
dreams don't die (2011/I SCREAM)
HARDCORE. In 1995, New York hardcore legend Lord Ezec formed the 7 piece thug-core ensemble SKARHEAD. Now they give you "dreams don't die", a new SKARHEAD record as tribute to some of Lord Ezec's favorite bands from the unforgettable era between '86 and '89. Another 13 tracks from one of the hardest New York bands with guest appearances by Eddie Sutton (LEEWAY), Paul Bearer (SHEER TERROR), Mad Joe (WISDOM IN CHAINS), Scott Vogel (TERROR) and many more.
SKARHEAD
drugs, music & sex (2010/REALITY/I SCREAM)
HARDCORE. SKARHEAD's debut, "drugs, money & sex", was released in 1997 and shortly after that they signed to Victory Records for the release of the world famous and classic NYC hardcore record "kings at crime", which hit stores in 1999. Being a lead vocalist and leader in the hardcore community for over 15 years, Lord Ezec is now back with SKARHEAD's long awaited new record "drugs, music & sex". Ezec has managed to record another timeless album for those who love a good blend of street brutality and the most ignorant hardcore party anthems a band can create.
SKARHEAD
kickin' it oldschool (2011/REALITY)
HARDCORE. SKARHEAD's classic "drugs, money & sex" release is now available again as "kickin' it oldschool". Included with the recording are 5 bonus demo, studio and live tracks, all of them totally remastered.
SKARHEAD
kings of time (1999/VICTORY)
HARDCORE. SKARHEAD unleashed their brand of NYC-hardcore in 1995. Spawned from the ashes of CROWN OF THORNZ these "kings from queens" crack the hardcore scene between the eyes with their two-fisted, streetwise style. SKARHEAD is one of the most dynamic and energetic live acts.
SKARP
bury your dead (2006/INIMICAL)
GRINDCORE. The 1st full-length release from Seattle's purveyors of grind. More raw than their release on Alternative Tentacles, but still as brutal. Raging hardcore with a couple of brutal grind hints. The missing link between the punk early releases and the full on grind of "requiem". More overtly political than later work. Contains a NASUM cover as well as the infamous SKITSYSTEM cover. Nice picture-disk LP - limited to 500 copies.
SKARP
Requiem (2005/ALTERNATIVE TENTACLES)
HARDCORE. Formed in 2000, as a band heavily influenced by CHOKING VICTIM (the pre-LEFTOVER CRACK ska-punks), SKARP quickly steered their ship into heavier, more turbulent waters, trading the ska elements for blast beats and precision crust riffs. The band crafted "Requiem" under the watchful eye of veteran producer Billy Anderson (Neurosis, Logical Nonsense, Sleep, etc.) creating a fearsome new aural assault to rival any current metal band. SKARP's savage brand of grinding mayhem, known as blackout grind amongst the band's true believers, will strike a chord with all fans of crust, grind, hardcore and even some of the more virulent strains of metal.
SKIN LIKE IRON
amalgamation II (2008/FREE CAKE)
HARDCORE. * REDUCED PRICE * Oakland California's SKIN LIKE IRON combine mid-tempo punk and hardcore with screamed vocals, charging guitars, thundering drums and urgent lyrics, creating a sound that is at times melodic like their hometown counterparts NEVER HEALED, but can also be intense and dirty, giving off a modern-day BLACK FLAG vibe. This CD compiles their 3 early cassette releases titled "myths", "conquest", and "wisom" - 18 songs, not one worth skipping on your boom box.
SKINLESS
foreshadowing our demise (2003/RELAPSE)
DEATH-METAL. On their Relapse debut "foreshadowing our demise", New York's SKINLESS paint violent atmospheres of destruction and devastation. "foreshadowing our demise" taps into the endless energy of the band's burly live performances, delivering an annihilating combo of gargantuan grooves and high-tension breakdowns. SKINLESS administer gut-twisting deathgrind that deluges the listener with colossal, driving riffs, chaotic percussion and unearthly vocal roars. Explosive, sarcastic, punishing and nihilistic, SKINLESS have cemented their stance as forerunners of the extreme music movement.
SKINLESS
from sacrifice to survival (2003/RELAPSE)
DEATH-METAL. The SKINLESS death machine embodies and amplifies the hardest-hitting hallmarks of US death-metal. Powerful vocals punch through churning guitar crunch in what is the band's finest work to-date. Featuring the stellar production work of Neil Kernon (Cannibal Corpse, Judas Priest etc.) and powerhouse drumming of John Longstreth (ORIGIN, ANGEL CORPSE). "from sacrifice to survival" has escalated SKINLESS' musical mania to an untouchable new apex.
SKINLESS
trample the weak, hurdle the dead (2006/RELAPSE)
DEATH-METAL. On Trample the Weak, Hurdle the Dead, New York powerhouse SKINLESS pile-drives the standard death metal formula and rallies fans with the forward-charge of wreckage-provoking vocals, demolishing beats, and ravaging riffs. SKINLESS Trample the Weak, [and] Hurdle the Dead to lay claim to death metal's reign by any means necessary.
