BATS AND MICE
s/t (2001/LOVITT)
INDIE-ROCK. While not featuring any bats OR mice, this does have 3 of the 4 members of SLEEPYTIME TRIO: Ben Davis (also of MILEMAKER), Dave Nesmith (also of THE RAH BRAS), and Jonathan Fuller (also of ENGINE DOWN). Unlike their other bands, this new endeavor seems to touch on a more relaxed and casual style of ambient indie-rock, similar to THREE MILE PILOT.

BATTLE OF MICE
A day of nights (2006/NEUROT)
POST-ROCK. After appearing on the Triad comp alongside RED SPAROWES and MADE OUT OF BABIES, Brooklyn, NY's BATTLE OF MICE prepare to come into their own with this offering through Neurot Recordings. "A day of nights" is 7 epic songs played in the vein of bands like RED SPAROWES, ISIS and NEUROSIS with female vocals that are presented with different sounds and expressions throughout. The sonic philosophy of the band reflects a huge, primal range of emotion: love, lust, jealousy, whiskey, and blind rage. And while it might be pointed out that 'whiskey' is not necessarily a clinically- recognized human emotion, it is unlikely that anyone will misunderstand the implications of its inclusion after hearing BATTLE OF MICE.
BATTLEFIELDS
entourage of the archiac (2010/INIT)
POST-HARDCORE. "entourage of the archaic" is 1 track clocking in at slightly over 13min. from Minnesota's BATTLEFIELDS. Highly recommended for fans of NEUROSIS, ISIS, RED SPARROWES, ROSETTA, and the like, only adding their own unique touch to the doom-metal sound, combining both metal and screamy hardcore elements to the mix. Limited to 500 copies vinyl includes MP3 download code.
BATTLETORN
terminal dawn (2008/MAD AT THE WORLD)
HARDCORE. Mad at the World's favorite thrash duo return with what appears to be the final chapter in the life of their beloved mascot Tungar, and with "terminal dawn", he goes down in flames! BATTLETORN crank the brutality up higher with their apocalyptic thrash; filtering some early '80s hardcore fury through thrash metal unruliness via Marshall stacks. They blast through 16 shattering songs that recall late '80s UK Earache Records acts as it does some NEGATIVE FX, early D.R.I. style hardcore mania. CD comes along with a re-mastered version of the band's 6 song "burn fast" 7".
BAYSIDE
killing time (2011/WIND-UP)
INDIE/EMO-ROCK. BAYSIDE's major label debut finds them sticking to what works: a formula of both heartbreaking and heartwarming anthems that nods to rock contemporaries like THE SMITHS and NICK DRAKE.

life on lifes terms (2007/TRUSTKILL)
INDIE-ROCK/EMO. Back with a vengeance, New Jersey melodic pop-rock quintet BEDLIGHT FOR BLUE EYES has taken all of their passion, insanity, and rock ’n roll, and multiplied it by one hundred. If you didn’t like BEDLIGHT’s 1st album, you’re not alone. But that doesn’t mean that you should ignore "life on life’s terms". They’re almost a different band all together. This is a pretty good release for the pop-rock genre.
BEDLIGHT FOR BLUE EYES
the dawn (2005/TRUSTKILL)
INDIE-ROCK/EMO. Passion, insanity, rock 'n' roll. Armed with these notions ingrained in their very bones, five kids out of Berkeley Heights have worked tirelessly to perfect a unique and explosive sound. When a unique marriage of post-hardcore grit, metal guitar leads, motown-soul, and hard-rock mentality cross paths, the result is nothing less than jaw dropping. This combination of extremes works as a cohesive sound, anchored by the masterful melodic vocals of the shouter.
