time slips away (2012/BRIDGE NINE)
SXE-HARDCORE. "time slips away" chronicles the 2 EPs CHAMPION released on Bridge Nine, "count our numbers" and "come out swinging". CHAMPION / BETRAYED
split (2006/RIVALRY)
SXE-HARDCORE. This split combines 3 exclusive songs from one of hardcore's most recognized bands, CHAMPION, with 3 songs from one of hardcore's most exciting new bands, BETRAYED (featuring 2 members of CHAMPION and 2 members of CARRY ON). Both bands play fast, yet melodic hardcore in the vein of CHAIN OF STRENGTH and CARRY ON, though both bands complement each other with different departures from the same traditional sound. CHAMPION's style is most definitely rooted in late 1980's hardcore with added melodic flavor, similar to that of TURNING POINT, while BETRAYED has defined their sound somewhere between the aforementioned bands and seminal D.C. hardcore punk legends MINOR THREAT and EMBRACE. This release represents the next chapter in the lives of both of these bands, with an overwhelming message of taking control and making the most of your life.
CHANNEL 3
to whom it may concern (2009/TKO)
PUNK-ROCK. For the 1st time ever, CHANNEL 3's original 1981 demos are collected on this 13 track LP. These are the recordings that gained the band the attention of Posh Boy Records - and the rest, as they say, was punk-history. Included are songs that became CH3 classics, previously unreleased tracks, and a WHO cover thrown in for good measure. This LP is a great snapshot of this early SoCal band in their formative stage: a must for any CHANNEL 3 fan. LP version includes CD version as well.
CHAOZE ONE
Fame* (2007/TWISTED CHORDS)
HIP-HOP.
CHARGE
Eye for all (2006/ANGER MANAGEMENT)
HARDCORE.CHARGE's original demo from 2002 pressed onto 10" and CD with all new artwork. Pulling from many musical genre's ranging from hardcore, to '60s protest-rock, reggae and hip-hop, New York's CHARGE are equal parts BAD BRAINS and CRO-MAGS.
CHARGE
Who's in control (2007/REAPER)
HARDCORE. CHARGE is a musical unit that plays what they describe as "rebel music". Pulling from many musical genre's ranging from Hardcore/punk, true conscious hip hop. From percussion beating, bass thumping groove rock, to brutal New York city styled hardcore, slow groove rockers, and hip hop laced forward drive post hardcore, CHARGE truly stand out in a sea of endless bands. On this MCD CHARGE continue to expand on their tradition of mixing social reflection and spiritual insights over pulverizing grooves. If your a friend of BURN, ABSOLUTION, BAD BRAINS, RUN DMC or even RAGE AGAINST MACHINE-influenced stuff, you should check this one out!
CHARMING SNAKES
Ammunition (2005/DIRTNAP)
The Rodney Dagerfields of the local Seattle rock scen. Seattle via Austin co-ed post punk no funk, minus the skinny ties (and or any fashion senseibility whatsoever) plus a side of Fall/Sonic Youth/Mission Of Burma. An answer to the prayers of lonely record nerds everywhere. At one time or another this band has featured members of The Shins, The Intelligence, Scared Of Chaka, various Sub Pop and Seattle Weekly employees and probably some others we can’t think of at the moment. The Charming Snakes have shared the stage with the likes of The Shins, The EX, Mudhoney, Pretty Girls Make Graves and Dead Moon to name just a few.
CHEAP GIRLS
giant orange (2012/RISE)
INDIE/EMO/POP-PUNK. Most bands capitalize on fads and gimmicks, chasing whatever is popular and hot, jumping from one genre to the next, but every now and then a band is able to exist and thrive because they do the exact opposite. Michigan's CHEAP GIRLS is one of these bands. For their newest and 3rd full-length "giant orange", the band enlisted Against Me frontman Tom Gabel to produce the record, and the result is 10 loud hard rock anthems that are sure to be listened to and appreciated by current and future generations of music lovers. Reminiscent of THE SMOKING POPES, THE REPLACEMENTS and SUPERCHUNK. Vinyl includes a digital download card.
CHEAP THRILLS
s/t (2007/FILLED WITH HATE)
HARDCORE. After their killer MCD "we're all broken" on Carthago this German hardcore rawpack is back with 6 ass-shaking heavy NYC-styled hardcore tracks. Solid chugging hardcore riffs team up with rough outstanding vocals, a backpack full of 2-step breakdowns and an awesome production. For kids digging stuff like DEATH THREAT, KILLING TIME, MADBALL, or even TERROR or upcoming new sounds like BORROWED TIME should check this out!
CHEATERS, THE
s/t (2008/BIG DIPPER)
THE CHEATERS have released their self-titled debut album, and high expectations are about to meet the naked truth. With tunes like “I found love” and “I might be evil”, THE CHEATERS ensnares their audience with dirty, 60’s-infested rock ’n’ roll. Their music however also expresses a more sensitive side through tracks as “Oh woman”, that flirts with summer-tanned girls, playing footsie under the table. That courtship abrubtly ends in “Where’s your pride”, but one does have an image to maintain. And besides, girls love bad boys. That might be the rationale the band is running with anyway.
CHEREM
in the land of the dead (2007/NEW EDEN)
SXE-HARDCORE. Officially remastered by Alan Douches at West West Side and re-released by New Eden Records, CHEREM play blistering vegan straight-edge hardcore from Salt Lake City strewn with massive breakdowns and ominous guitars. New to this release is the track "i hate george bush", a collaboration with hip hop revolutionary NAJ ONE.
CHICAGO THRASH ENSEMBLE
s/t (2012/PLASTIC AIRLINES)
HARDCORE/THRASH. Five old men from Chicago that remember to keep it short and sweet. Intense, EXODUS-precise riffs with ANTHRAX and S.O.D.-would-be-proud mosh parts. This CD contains both the 2010 self-titled and the 2012 "monsters of the midwest" releases - so you can circle-pit for 26min.. Straight, fucking fast, crossover-style hardcore/thrash, but these guys also understand the importance of breakdowns and a little technicality here and there to mix it up nicely. x-members of HEWHOCORRUPTS, AUTHORITY ABUSE and a bunch of other bands you've probably never heard of, but are awesome.
CHIMAIRA
resurrection (2007/FERRET)
METALCORE. CHIMAIRA's new album features 11 tracks of obliterating metal produced by Jason Suecof (Trivium, God Forbid) and mixed by the legendary Andy Sneap. "resurrection" is a full band effort as far as the songwriting went. As a result, the album sounds like a big shiny metal machine firing on all cylinders. If you're going to pick this up, get this limited edition version - 2 extra songs, plus a documentary of the making of the album. "resurrection" does not suffer from false advertising as far as the album title goes - it truly sounds like the CHIMAIRA chaps are reinvigorated and reborn.
CHIMAIRA
the infection (2009/BLACK SLEEVES/FERRET)
METALCORE. CHIMAIRA didn't hold back anything for the making of "the infection" and it's obvious they sure as hell aren't going to phone it in onstage. With a decade of service to the metal masses behind them, CHIMAIRA are embracing their future with an unwavering enthusiasm. Introducing "the infection": 10 doses of intensity and integrity to cleanse you of all the festering mediocrity happening in music today.
CHIODOS
bone palace ballet: grand coda (2008/EQUAL VISION)
POST-HARDCORE. CHIODOS is a six-member post-hardcore band from Davison, Michigan. CHIODOS is combusting out of this plastic CD case. Diverse instrumental use, and a remarkable amount of easily marketable melodic metal. It's time to stop talking about this record and get back to listening. "bone palace ballet: grand coda" features 5 new songs and bonus DVD which includes in studio footage, behind the scenes and live performances. Hype achieved! Limited vinyl comes in color vinyl. Vinyl version includes "bone palace ballet" CD and booklet.
