CRIME WAVE
modern lobotomies (2011/TORTURE GARDEN)
HARDCORE. These Texan perps are back in the saddle with their 5 shooter loaded full of hot hardcore action! Note the maturing tendency of exploring relevant punk-rock themes: deceased celebrity evangelists, african dictators, oil tycoons, what evil lurks in the hearts of men. Still members of SECRET PROSTITUTES, PMRC and NO TALK. Limited to 300 copies on green vinyl.
CRIME WAVE
nazi sex (2013/TORTURE GARDEN )
HARDCORE. Houston hardcore harbingers herald their 3rd coming with a dubious double feature special. Containing two 7"s whose concepts and recordings are completely separate from one another: Side-a's 5 songs deal critically corrupted control in "nazi sex" whereas side-b's 11 shorter bursts bear witness to forfeited feral freewill in "gospel convulsions". Limited to only 300 copies on clear vinyl - so break out the popcorn and catch the wave, suckers!
CRIME WAVE
savage reaction (2011/TORTURE GARDEN)
HARDCORE. Treacherous Texas punk perpetrators pony up 8 crimes against rock 'n' roll for their debut album. Hardcore in the 1st degree, plays out like POISON IDEA and REALLY RED knocking over a bank. Members of PMRC, NO TALK, SECRET PROSTITUTES, JANITOR.
CRIMINAL CODE
cold thought (2012/INIMICAL)
HARDCORE-PUNK. Within one year CRIMINAL CODE has released a demo, a 7", a tape (all of which are now out-of-print). Somehow they managed to fit in the recording of this LP, and managed to make it their best effort yet. Now that the band has added another guitar and new drummer to their arsenal, they took their HÜSKER DÜ/Greg Sage influences and made it their own unique sound. Limited to 510 copies.
CRIMINAL CODE
hollowed (2012/DERANGED)
HARDCORE-PUNK. Follow up to their excellent LP this 7" contains yet again moody hardcore tracks. It used to be easy to describe CRIMINAL CODE. Hook filled and moodily earnest, proudly wielding a love for HÜSKER DÜ, CRIMINAL CODE quickly became favorites of the Northwest scene. The 3 song effort continues to explore the band's penchant for gristly guitars, shouted vocals and well-written songs. If the WIPERS or the REPLACEMENTS were more firmly rooted in the current hardcore scene, they might sound something like this. With this, their 3rd vinyl release they continue to push the boundaries of what it means to be a a modern hardcore-punk band.
CRIMINAL CODE
sacred hands/distressed dreams (2012/INIMICAL)
HARDCORE-PUNK. Note the high price due to a one-time pressing of only 372 copies. Two songs from the same recording session as the recent Deranged debut "hollowed". One is a melodic hardcore song that has become their signature, featuring equal parts HÜSKER DÜ and THE WIPERS. The b-side gets much darker, exploring their post-punk side, CRIMINAL CODE's take on BAUHAUS meets MY BLOODY VALENTINE. Two outstanding new songs from a band that is always pushing forward.
CRIMINALS, THE
never been caught (2013/DEAD BROKE)
PUNK-ROCK. THE CRIMINALS' debut album, "never been caught", originally on Lookout Records, now re-issued in all its punk-rock glory. The album was recorded in 1997 and was engineered by Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day), and features cover art by Jesse Michaels (Operation Ivy). Originally existing from 1994-2000, THE CRIMINALS have reunited in 2012 to tear shit up. Trashy, grimy, menacing and poppy punk-rock like no other than THE CRIMINALS. Only 300 pressed on black vinyl. Vinyl includes a digital download card.
CRIMSON SCARLET
scarlet (2012/COOL SUMMER)
POST/GOTH-PUNK. The 1st release from the female fronted goth and death-rock outfit CRIMSON SCARLET from the Bay-Area. Heavily influenced by death-rock, aanarcho, and goth pioneers like PART 1, SKELETAL FAMILY, and even SISTERS OF MERCY, but fed through a modern filter and played by band members with strong punk and hardcore pedigrees. Keeping true to form of their genre CRIMSON SCARLET let a drum-machine handle the percussion duties. CRIMSON SCARLET are certainly leading the charge in the rebirth of american goth-punk along side their piers like BELLICOSE MINDS, BELGRADO, and SPECTRES.
CRIMSON SCARLET
the window (2013/RUST & MACHINE)
POST/GOTH-PUNK. The 2nd and very anticipated follow up 7" from the Bay-Area's post-punk and death-rock outfit CRIMSON SCARLET. The excellent clean yet chilling vocals mixed with the haunting yet hardcore guitar work make these songs stick in your head for days. CRIMSON SCARLET has had several line up changes since their formation with current and ex-members ranging from acts such as MIDNITE BRAIN, DESPERATE HOURS, MUNDO MUERTO and many more.
CRIPPLE BASTARDS
desperately intensitive (2003/DEEP SIX)
GRINDCORE. The latest in complete sound obliteration from this long-running Italian band. A 19 track crust-blend of filthy punk, noisecore nihilism, '80s-style Italian hardcore, brutal grind psychosis, and sheer fucking hate, all played with speed, anger, and disgust. Packaged in a full-color gatefold sleeve.
CRIPPLE BASTARDS / LOOKING FOR AN ANSWER
split (2011/RESCUED FROM LIFE)
GRINDCORE. The grind scenes of Italy and Spain are both represented on this split 6" with both bands covering their biggest influences. CRIPPLE BASTARDS cover IMPULSE MANSLAUGHTER and NEGATIVE FX while LOOKING FOR AN ANSWER do NAPALM DEATH and RUIDO DE RABIA.
CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX
i, vigilante (2013/INVADA)
POST-ROCK. Out of print for nearly 3 years the acclaimed 3rd album from CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX now repressed as limited edition coloured vinyl. CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX consists/include members of MOGWAI and PORTISHEAD - interested? They roam laggardly through rural post-rock, prog, folk, ambient and doom metal pastures without even trying your patience. This is not the usual type of album in CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX's world, it per-forms a slightly different agenda, shorter and to-the-point, although the running time is still around the 45min. mark. They move from the heavier, more in-your-face sides of the band to a much more euphoric state. CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX manages to mix up so many elements without going to overboard.
CRISIS
hymns of faith (2010/LA VIDA UN ES MUS)
PUNK-ROCK. "hymns of faith" by CRISIS is finally re-released after nearly 30 years. Recorded by a band that was in the throes of death, this MLP features 7 tracks of political punk (although some would describe it as post punk). The LP may have lacked the bite of the earlier 7", but "hymns of faith" was innovative and original, and has never been bettered, yet alone equalled. Forget most of the KBD records - this is the real deal.
CRISIS OF CONFORMITY
fist fight (2011/DRAG CITY)
HARDCORE. CRISIS OF CONFORMITY appeared in a sketch on "saturday night live" featuring punk scene vets Dave Grohl and Fred Armisen being joined by actor Ashton Kutcher. The idea was that a hardcore band reunited to play one song at a family member's wedding. The song they played was recorded, along with a b-side, and released on this limited edition 7" for pure ridiculousness.
CRITICAL PICNIC
s/t (2008/COWABUNGA)
HARDCORE-PUNK. This posthumous release finds Orange County's CRITICAL PICNIC banging out 6 tunes of sloppy, fast and wild hardcore- punk songs with purposefully offensive lyrics that play into one big joke.
