HARDCORE. CRUISE MISSILES has been destroying ear drums around the Stuttgart area for a short time, before they broke-up in 2005. This posthum one-sided LP features 8 tracks. All out sonic bombardment of ultrafast and incredibly angry hardcore, old-school sound with nods to early Bay-Area stuff or Slap-a-Ham juggernauts. They only played a few live shows and when they broke up, they only had those kept recordings. CRUISE MISSILES played a perfect blend of styles while still being straight forward thrash. CRUMBSUCKERS

CROSSOVER-HARDCORE/METAL. The 2nd album from 1988 of one of a wave of bands that fused metal with hardcore into a hyperelectric mix filled with energy and spirit. Based in New York, they were part of a burgeoning scene in the mid-late '80s that took root on the Lower East Side that regularly gigged in clubs like the legendary A7 and CBGB's. Reissue on 180gr vinyl of this final album.

HARDCORE. Germany’s finest export of hardcore fuelled hardcore. With driving guitars and machine gun drums all topped off with memorable and hooky lyrics and vocals that still remain raw and true to the CRUSHING CASPARS’ hardcore and punk ethics. Production on these 15 anthems of anarchic rage hell bent on pit destruction, bar fights and drinking with friends was wielded by Jacob Bredahl, that gives the rawness of the songs some smooth touches here and there and a huge sound without losing the dangerous feel and energy that the songs were born with in a sweaty crampt practice room in Rostock, Germany.

Originally released back in the days in 1987 this thrash-milestone has been re-mastered (CD on Relapse is re-packaged with extensive photos, lyrics and artwork and features 9 bonus tracks taken from rehearsals and legendary live performances). This four guys from Santa Monica were the kings of velocity during the decade of the '80s. They become notorius for that particularity wich made them to reach legend status at underground levels. If you're into MUNICIPAL WASTE and other Bay-Area thrash bands you should check this out! A true cult classic if it comes to early thrash bands!

Cansei de ser sexy (2006/SUB POP)
ELECTRO-ROCK. From São Paulo, Brazil comes CSS, the 1st South American band Sub Pop has foisted upon the global marketplace. "Cansei de ser sexy", Portuguese for “Tired of being Sexy”, is improbably, unbelievably and nearly eponymously their debut. It is a thick, pulsating thing full of haphazard synths and a come-on of call and response that tears down any attempt at posturing. It is equal parts rock mantra and throwback into something new, transcending boundaries of genre and geography. It careers full speed into dance territory, into the unknown and untouched, to emerge all hot and bothered with wild electro-rock. They are the un-pretension: unfinished, exposed, and throwing all they have right at you. It is quick, tightly-wound, unfastened and supreme.
CSS
Donkey (2008/SUB POP)
ELECTRO-ROCK. It's hard not to like CSS, with their disco beats and their frisky warm-weather pop, particularly when said tunes are fronted by the catsuit-wearing indie Duracell bunny that is lead singer Lovefoxxx. It's also pretty easy to see this, the follow-up to their upbeat and pleasingly-punchy debut, as more of the same: this second album is fizzy, fun and festival-friendly. Music like this isn't likely to revolutionise your existence, and it's not really clear how the band might move on from here creatively, but somehow, with CSS, these sorts of issues don't matter.
