THE MEASURE have laid it all on the line here in their 2nd full-length "notes", wherein they continue their tradition of Left Coast-inspired pop-punk that leaves no room for metaphor or horseplay. They play at two speeds: fast and faster. Is the buzz in the guitars or the mix? Rising above the fray, both vocals weave around each other with a cutting cross-examination of self, society, and scene. In the context of a band's life, "notes" would be filed under dark sophomore release and greatest leap forward in confidence and songwriting. Vinyl comes with a MP3 download code.

Most of these songs aren't instant classics like the ones on the debut, but they'll grow on you, if you like this kind of crap. Same old catchy, poorly-produced obnoxious hate hardcore-punk. THE MEATMEN simply inspire a polite young man to shout "fuck you" every once in a while.

Originally released in 1985, THE MEATMEN's 2nd album, "war of the superbikes", teamed the shameless and poignantly hysterical TESCO VEE with MINOR THREAT's legendary guitar duo, Brian Baker and Lyle Preslar, for one of the great summer albums of all time. The hardcore musicianship is superb, as are the timelessly vulgar lyrics. Much like the BEASTIE BOYS' "licensed to ill" which came around 2 years later, one can't help but learn, know and sing all the hilarious lyrics to these incredibly catchy songs all summer long.

If you own there previous material, you know how much energy and aggression they put forth into their songs. Pissed off hardcore-punk with snarled shouts, fast simple hardcore riffs, gang vocals, sweet mini-solos, cool breakdowns, and catchy drumming. The band has really stepped it up a notch. Everything about the band is angrier and tighter, not just the music but the lyrics as well. You'll be circle pitting for days after listening to this. POST-HARDCORE. MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS are the latest addition to the growing and highly dominant U.K. post-hardcore scene. MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS is the most successful band to attempt this sound so far in terms of sheer originality. Combining MILLION DEAD's pop sensibility with THE MURDER OF ROSA LUXEMBURG’s technical backing, MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS’ sound is basically pop songs broken down into 10 sec. burst of energy that are strung together into 3 min. explosions. Basically, MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS is a technically proficient pop-punk group that rides the line between pop-punk and post-hardcore.
