MURDER DISCO X
ground zero stuttgart (2006/PROFANE EXISTENCE)
HARDCORE-PUNK. This is what what happens if you take 2 grumpy old men, an expatriate Portlander, notorius for being in great bands, and a travelling Kiwi stuck in South-West Germany and lock them up in a practice room and a van. This record deliver 12 tracks of no frills, no bullshit, adrenaline-overdosed, pissed hardcore-punk with the occasional hook. You hate the cops, the imperialist warmachine, religious wingnuts of all fractions, earth rapers and assholes in general? Welcome to the club - this is your soundtrack to singalong to! MDX decided a long time ago that they are too old to die young and chose to rock the hell out of it instead - with almost 100 years of punk experience by this bunch of old time scenesters you can expect the formula to be nailed down.
MURDER DISCO X
HARDCORE-PUNK. After years of silence the veterans from the Stuttgart-area returned with a new full-length record, released by their own label. MDX deliver 9 tracks raw in-your-face hardcore-punk with a lot of '80s West-Coast thrash in their veins. Record includes a lyric sheet and a poster.
a killing tradition (2013/MVD)
PUNK-ROCK Brand new punk glam masterpiece from the MURDER .JUNKIES. "a killing tradition" builds on the classic punk sound and lyrical sickness. Infamous as scum rocker GG Allin's backing band on his last few tours, the MURDER JUNKIES have come into their own as a downright fearsome punk-rock band. Anchored by the punkest rhythm section around: GG's brother, Merle Allin on bass and Dino Sex on drums; this time around the Junkies caught punk-rock lightning in a bottle and are heaving it your way.
road killer (2011/MERLE ALLI)
PUNK-ROCK. "road killer" is the new album by former GG ALLIN backing band. Infamous as scum rocker GG ALLIN's backing band on his last few tours, the MURDER JUNKIES have come into their own as a downright fearsome punk-rock band. They are veterans of the road life and all it entails. This time around the Junkies caught punk-rock lightning in a bottle and are heaving it your way.
do it or don't (2010/GIVE PRAISE)
HARDCORE-PUNK. Raw and old-school hardcore from Florida. The MURDER-SUICIDE PACT unit has been around since the '80s and have a very sincere and in-your-face sound! They have recently started to blast the raw sounds again in 2010! They combine catchy and fast breaks to bring a little bit of everything to the table. This is angry, in-your-face, fast and raw hardcore-punk! Angry and loud, like hardcore is supposed to be!
full time (2010/BACON TOWNE)
HARDCORE. One of 2 new MURDER-SUICIDE PACT 7"s, released simultaneously, breaking this cult band's 12 year silence. "full time" features 6 songs recorded in early 2010 with members of FAILURE FACE, CONTROL DE ESTADO and SLAP OF REALITY. The band has often been escribed as a mix of Henry-era BLACK FLAG, early POISON IDEA and NEGATIVE APPROACH. You will probably feel a little dirty after listening to this, and you might like it.
HARDCORE-PUNK. Totally chaotic hardcore-punk in the DISORDER tradition. This 7" is a blast of pure chaos and contains pure, hate filled hardcore-punk.
the last thing you will ever see.. (2010/ABORTED SOCIETY)
CRUST-HARDCORE. This is the debut LP from Portland's MURDERESS. You'll get dark, brooding metallic d-beat crust-hardcore with spine-tingling screaming vocals. This is an up and coming female-fronted group that falls somewhere in between the '80s metallic punk style of groups like SACRILEGE and melody-driven crust akin to ZERO HOUR. This release comes with a poster/lyric insert, a nice matte-finish jacket, and a MP3 download code.
THRASHCORE. A hyper-fast attack of thermonuclear thrash from Japan’s mighty MUTANT. Abrasive and chaotic Japanese thrash featuring wild guitar playing, occasional gang vocals, and some absolutely incendiary vocals. MUTANT plays as fast as a hardcore band can without spilling into grind territory, but they manage to keep things from becoming a messy blur with some deft tempo changes and interesting vocal hooks. At times, this reminds me of the CONGA FURY tracks on the second Histeria comp in speed, distortion level, and vocal approach. Eight explosive tracks that will tear the flesh from your bones. Limited stock available, don’t sleep.
PUNK-ROCK. The vinyl release of MUTE's "thunderblast" is finally here. Combining elements of skate-punk, melodic punk-rock, and heavy-metal, "thunderblast" is a force to be reckoned with. The vinyl reissue also features a previously unreleased bonus track entitled "fast lane".
BLACK-METAL. NYC's ugliest black-metal outfit, MUTILATION RITES play filthy crusty black-metal. Influences include, but are not limited to, DARKTHRONE, DISCHARGE and DISSECTION. The brutal assault is dialed back just a bit on this one in favor of a somewhat more melodic approach, and it works really, really well. It’s nice to see a band that is so adept at bringing it fast and furious have the ability to slow down a little bit and insert a little more melody into their songs. Members have done time in acts such as TOMBS, HEURISTIC and CURENDERA.
s/t (2009/JUST SAY NO)
GRINDCORE. MUTINY come from Victoria, BC and feature members of ISKRA and LEPER. Grinding anarchist crust that isn't boring or overly rehashed like a lot of bands out there these days. Starting a cross-Canada tour in May with LEPER, and plans to hit up the United States in the near future. Think AXIOM fused with IN DISGUST and toss in some ASSÜCK for good measure. This same titled 7" contains 11 songs in just over 11min..
plans within plans (2012/JUMP START)
POP-PUNK. The 9th full-length release from Bremerton's native sons. "plans within plans" delivers 13 tracks of super catchy and infectious melodic and poppy punk-rock that sees the band returning to a sound familiar with longtime fans. The songs are fast, to the point and everything you'd expect from this veteran band. Vinyl includes a digital download card.
MY BRIGHTEST DIAMOND
A thousand shark’s teeth (2008/ASTHMATIC KITTY)
POST-ROCK/AVANTGARDE. MY BRIGHTEST DIAMOND's 2nd album explores the micro and macro of intimate relationships - the nearness of a lover, the explosion of the cosmos of people in love, the loneliness of the laundry worker, a longing for the mundane activities of lost friendship, the simple delight of observing an apple blossom.
little joy (2011/TEMPORARY RESIDENCE)
POST-ROCK. Finally the Melbourne trio MyY DISCO present their 3rd full-length, the truly brilliant and enigmatic "little joy". As always with MY DISCO, the most fascinating and unique element to their sound is space - long, deep, sometimes scary space. Their defiance of rock music’s time-worn tropes is what defines them, and "little joy" explores and expands on that concept, stretching a naked few instruments to transform short blasts into heavy, rhythmic, meditative body music. A record both expansive and minimal, a compressed expression of vast emotions.
