INDIE-ROCK. AVI BUFFALO is the adopted name of Avigdor Zahner-Isenberg, an singer/songwriter and guitarist from Long Beach. AVI BUFFALO is also the name of the band he formed with friends and like-minded collaborators. Their sound is tangled - they take the scenic route to their best ideas - but each move feels carefully considered. Spend enough time unspooling the tunes, and little pockets in these compositions start to open up, revealing an uncommon regard for detail and - in the case of Zahner-Isenberg's guitar flittering - a rather deft musicianship. This sneakily complex, unsappily sentimental, thoughtfully naïve debut is a very early success. Vinyl version includes coupon for free MP3s of the entire album.

Lyrically influenced by the rotting culture and environmental devestation of the mid-west, and musically influenced by mid '90s japanese and scandanavian hardcore and '80s thrash-metal. This postum release includes the "final feast" 7", the "burning wind" 7", the split with VIRGINIA BLACK LUNG 7", and previous unreleased songs from the final recording. Raw, fast and dark hardcore created with the intent to make ears bleed.

CRUST-METAL/HARDCORE. When crustcore and metal began to cross-over, AXEGRINDER were there to lead the way. Their legacy may have been overshadowed by AMEBIX, but their sole album "the rise of the serpent men" remains an undisputed crust-metal classic. Not available either on vinyl or with original artwork since the original came out in 1989, Svart Records now proudly presents a fully restored gatefold vinyl reissue. The album is limited to 500 copies on black vinyl and it also features an insert with lyrics and liner notes.

BLACK/DEATH-METAL. AXIS OF ADVANCE formed from the still-warm ashes of SACRAMENTARY ABOLISHMENT. Picking up right where SACRAMENTARY ABOLISHMENT left off, AXIS OF ADVANCE began their existence with the release of a 3 song MCD of crushing black- and death-metal. With only 500 copies of this 1999 release, it tends to be forgotten in the wake of their more recent releases despite being some of their most vicious and primitive material. Landline features 2 songs that were written for what was meant to be SACRAMENTARY ABOLISHMENT's 3rd album (they also get rerecorded for AXIS OF ADVANCE's debut album "strike"), as well a SACRIFICE cover. Expect nothing less than top-notch apocalyptic nuclear filled blackness!
