PUNK-ROCK. After several years in the making this 19 song epic full-length album has finally been properly released in its entirety. SHOTWELL falls somewhere between THE CLASH and STIFF LITTLE FINGERS, all with a heavy mid '90s Bay-Area influence. And after over 15 years of continuous performing and recording (through countless line-up changes) the "patriot" stands alone as a recording of SHOTWELL at their best.
SHOUT OUT LOUDS, THE
our ill wills (2007/HALDERN POP)
POP/INDIE-ROCK. THE SHOUT LOUDS are back with the follow up to their critically acclaimed release "howl howl gaff gaff". "our ill wills" is a bit of a departure. This album manages to maintain the SHOUT OUT LOUD sound while not retreading old material. Shimmery songs and heartfelt lyrics that maintain there pop appeal while maturing along the way. "our ill wills" most likely will not get the praise as "howl howl gaff gaff", but it certainly deserves it. They could just as easily made a follow up of catchy pop tunes that can't lose and in some ways they have but you have to respect a band that isn't afraid to move forward as artists and travel new roads.
from bad to worse and nine to five (2010/RISING RIOT)
HARDCORE. About 2 years after the fabulous debut 7" of SHOYU SQUAD from Bielefeld, the 4 guys recorded 10 new songs to release their 1st full-length called "from bad to worse and nine to five". The tracks are way darker than the tracks of the 7". SHOYU SQUAD play hardcore with diverse influences, a lot of power, outstanding vocals, and raging guitar leads. This full-length, which encompasses the power they have as a band with precision and depth more fully than of their previous release. If you enjoy BOMENALARM or CHAINBREAKER you should take a listen to this nice platter!

SHUT THE FUCK UP
miserable existence (2005/TANK CRIMES)
HARDCORE. Mad thrashing crossover for the punx. Bay-Area drunk rockers classic 7" originally released by the bands own Third World Records in 2002. SHYBOY / BEERWULF
split (2011/SOLAR FUNERAL)
PUNK-ROCK. Split 7" between 2 Japanese bands. SHYBOY from Fukuoka has member of PEAR OF THE WEST, BUTCH and SCREAMING FAT RAT. They play melodic punk-rock like '70s UK punk. More powerful, think FIFTH HOUR HERO, THIS IS MY FIST. Each band brings 2 songs.

SIAN ALICE GROUP
59.59 (2008/SOCIAL REGISTRY)
As work began on London-based SIAN ALICE GROUP debut full length "59.59", it became clear early on that it would not simply be a collection of songs. The music that they have brought to bare is a much more fully realized experience that moves through traditional pop songwriting and dynamic instrumental composition while being tempered with studio improvisation. The title of the record comes from its running time and, as this suggests, "59.59" manipulates elements of texture, pacing and timbre as if it’s one sweeping composition. It is an epic record that showcases the talent, range and ambition of this young group, taking in elements of various genres and making them their own. At the core of SIAN ALICE GROUP are multi-instrumentalists Rupert Clervaux and Ben Crook who formed the band along with vocalist Sian Ahern in late 2006. In order to flesh out their sound they brought in Sasha Vine and for live shows have added Douglas Hart (JESUS & MARY CHAIN) and John Webster Johns. "59.59" was recorded and produced predominantly during the summer of 2007 by Clervaux at SIAN ALICE GROUP’s central London studio where the group are able to enjoy complete self-sufficiency, enabling full flexibility in their creative process. As a testament to the open and collaborative nature of SIAN ALICE GROUP, the group welcomed other musicians in to the studio and, for the album closer ‘Complete Affection,’ were joined by John Coxon (SPIRITUALIZED, SPRING HEAL JACK) on guitar and Brian DeGraw (GANG GANG DANCE) on lead piano. SIAN ALICE GROUP have already received a number of lazy comparisons to Shoegaze music, something that they should shrug-off with ease after the release of this album. The stylistic range of "59.59" is way more far reaching than such a reductive comparison would imply and further brings to mind references such as Arthur Russell, Angelo Badalamenti and Steve Reich. The album even features a song, ‘Motionless,’ that is inspired by the music of legendary Detroit techno pioneer Jeff Mills, and loosely based on his track ‘Solid sleep’.
