HARDCORE-PUNK. Four years in the making, this six part series has been a labour of love to put together into the definitive Stupids Discography and to give them the re-issue treatment they deserve... "Violent nun", "Peruvian vacation", "Retard picnic", "A bbc recording", "Van stupid/frankfurter" and "Jesus meets the stupids". THE STUPIDS were one of the legendary UK hardcore pioneers who, in 3 short years from 1984 to 1987 went from 4 track demos to the front cover of several magazines and indie-number #1 chart albums. The 1st hardcore band to record a session for the John Peel show, to openly embrace US hardcore-punk within their sound and style, THE STUPIDS paved the way for the whole UK hardcore scene and “britcore” explosion that followed. The godfathers now finally get the reissues their back catalogue deserves, and the 1st time any STUPIDS reissues have been done with the complete involvement and backing of the band themselves. All 6 are available on limited edition coloured vinyl with gatefold sleeves (first press 500) complete with full-liner notes and unseen photographs and band memorabilia.

Denton, TX pop punk group that sounds like BoogadaBoogadaBoogada era SCREECHING WEASEL. Dirty recording done by the folks from THE MARKED MEN, and mastering by Mikey from THE ERGS! This record really has a nice boomy, lofi sound to it. Also has members of the thrash group A.N.S. Limited to 350 copies.

Sour puss (2008/GNARLY SLAUGHTER)
POP-PUNK. Killer late '80s early '90s style pop-punk from the same Texas crew who has brought you bands like A.N.S. and BLEACH BOYS. These guys nail that sound perfectly on this 7", reminding a lot of SCREECHING WEASEL's "Wiggle" album. They even throw in one of those blazing-fast hardcore numbers that SCREECHING WEASEL used to slip in there every once in a while. Definitely recommended if you've been digging stuff like CROSSED EYES and BLEACH BOYS.
SUBHUMANS

PUNK-ROCK. This album from the UK's SUBHUMANS is the 1st full-length since they reformed 9 years ago, and a whole 2 decades (20 years!) since their last one - so it's been a long time coming! These 13 songs combine the band's trademarks of dynamic punk tunes and socio-political lyrics as effectively as their previous albums, venturing from straight-up rousing punk to slices of WIRE-like tension, RUTS-like rolling basslines, and a whole 9 min. of "Never ending war song". Well they’re well and truly back with their 9th SUBHUMANS studio album and showing no sign of letting up in the struggle to raise the system to the ground. No record collection is complete without something by the SUBHUMANS, and "Internal riot" is easily as good a place to start as any.

PUNK-ROCK. Without any doubt the THE SUBHUMANS from Vancouver was one of the most important early Canadian punk bands (hardcore was yet to come). This well done re-release includes the ultra-rare 4 track "s/t" MLP (originaly released on Quintessence in 1979) with 3 upbeat punk tracks with the right blend of rough street feeling and catchy melodies and a rockish and slower number. As a bonus you'll get both rare 7"s "death to the sickoids/oh canaduh" (from 1978) and "firing squad/no productivity" (from 1980). Great music and great look, too. All those tracks appear refreshingly normal, lacking the stereotype of "punk" image. This one is a classic - don't miss it!

PUNK-ROCK. In Canada's glorious punk history, few embodied the greatness of the 1978-82 era like THE SUBHUMANS (not to be confused with the UK SUBHUMANS). This titan of Vancouver punk engaged with the burgeoning worldwide movement and shared stages with BLACK FLAG, DEAD KENNEDYS and BAD BRAINS. "new dark age parade" unleashes 14 songs, the 1st written by original members since 1982! Joined by drummer Jon (SNFU/D.O.A.), the songs are every bit as dynamic, powerful and poignant as the band's beloved early material. They rock out with seething intelligence and soulfulness. The sound is both classic and unique. Rather than rehashing the past, THE SUBHUMANS forge ahead with compelling vitality.

PUNK-ROCK. Legendary Canadian punk group SUBHUMANS emerged from the 1978 font of creativity. They have been part of the Alternative Tentacles family since the infamous "let them eat jellybeans" compilation. Their 1st album, "incorrect thoughts", was released on Vancouver label Friends Records in 1980. The band always planned to make their older material available again, but a now-defunct San Francisco label had issued an unauthorized version in the ’80s which substituted some remixes without the band’s knowledge. Three decades later the former owner of that label asserted ownership over the original album, preventing its re-release without an expensive and contentious legal tussle. THE SUBHUMANS decided to meet the challenge to their ownership of their own material by rerecording all of the songs from "incorrect thoughts". The intent was neither to slavishly recreate the old recordings nor to radically reinterpret the songs, but updating the sounds and the recording techniques while maintaining the original spirit of the album. As a bonus, THE SUBHUMANS recorded 6 additional songs from the same period (some of which have never been recorded until now), available as extra tracks.

The recording is top notch, and it really manages to capture the power, honesty, and sheer heart of Submission Hold. These eight songs continue the Submission Hold progression with even more complex, diverse, and yet very catchy songs; some fantastic material.
