POST-ROCK. The rumor of a new THREE MILE PILOT album has been circulating for over a decade, further fueling the mystery and mythology that has swirled around the San Diego trio since 1997. The aptly-named "the inevitable past is the future forgotten" is written, performed, recorded and produced entirely by the original 3 members in their own home studios. While PINBACK and THE BLACK HEART PROCESSION were obviously influenced by THREE MILE PILOT in their early days, the inverse can now be heard, with many of the songs bearing the unmistakable and inevitable stamps of PINBACK and THE BLACK HEART PROCESSION. This circular influence is what makes the album so brilliant.

DEATHCORE. THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD is that rare band that comes around once a decade that resets the bar for extreme music. Jamey King (Between The Buried And Me) produced "bloodlust" which is steeped in the tradition of metal legends such as MORBID ANGEL and NAPALM DEATH, while breathing new life into the genre. A successful underground headline tour in spring of 2005 established them as true force, drawing major crowds with just one underground release under their belt.

THULSA DOOM
1998 to 2000 (2011/SIT AND SPIN)
PUNK-ROCK. THULSA DOOM existed and was active primarily in the late 90's in NYC and disbanding in early 2001. This slab of vinyl includes both their split 7" with DISTRAUGHT as well as the "desensitized" 7" and 2 previously unreleased tracks. Since disbanding in 2001 the band has started to play live again just this year following the release of this record. THULSA DOOM is truly one of the most influential anarcho-punk bands of their time.

Defying easy sub-genre categorizations, THURNEMAN take the raw materials of straightforward '80s hardcore - blistering drums, frantic riffing and hoarse, shouted vocals - and flesh them out with creative song structures and unique atmospheric touches. This potent combination of aggression and catchiness brings to mind early '80s classics like HÜSKER DÜ's "everything falls apart" release as well as Scandinavian rippers like HEADCLEANERS.

POST-HARDCORE. THE TIDAL SLEEP is a four-piece band from Mannheim/Karlsruhe, Germany and this is their 4 song record. Musically, they play melodic hardcore with nice shoegazeish, post-rockish guitar parts and emotional vocals. The new songs are dreamy, passionate and intense in the same time, sound like the old TOUCHE AMORE mixed with ENVY. This one-sided LP comes with a nice etched b-side and a digital download card.
TIDAL SLEEP, THE

POST-HARDCORE. Maybe this is the 1st hardcore band on This Charming Man. They take the passionate, almost spoken vocals out of bands like of the popular wave-movement , use similar picturesque language but combine it with an almost post-rockish guitar sound without loosing their drive and attack. TIDEMOUTH

POST-HARDCORE. With influences that include MODERN LIFE IS WAR and ORCHID, it's difficult to confine TIDEMOUTH to one genre. Too painted and instrumentally dynamic to be hardcore, yet too heavy and eerily atmospheric to fall under the category of '90s screamo, this 7" is caught in a purgatory between melodic angst and crushing sadness.
